This covers it pretty well. There are several American groups I like better.. I don't even care for Van Halen, for instance. The Doors should probably get a spot, too.

That is a better question. Really odd considering R&R has no musical roots in England. I also agree that if I had to pick 1 it would be the Beach Boys.
