My nomination for the To-The-Point headline of the day:

No One Wants Phil Hughes

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXsports.com “the Yankees had not received a single trade offer” for Phil Hughes as of yesterday, which is the kind of random note that makes me hope Phil Hughes doesn’t check Twitter (or HBT).

Hughes has actually been decent of late, starting 12 games with a 3.82 ERA and 56/20 K/BB ratio in 71 innings since his worst start of the season on May 15, but he continues to serve up a ton of homers and has more than five strikeouts just once in his last eight starts.

He’s also an impending free agent making $7.15 million, so even if the Yankees get a few nibbles on Hughes between now and Wednesday’s trade deadline it’s hard to imagine the return being anything significant.

The Chicago White Sox no longer appear to be dangling starter Jake Peavy in trade scenarios, ESPN reports Monday. Chicago is telling teams that they intend to "build around" Peavy for the future.

In other White Sox news, The Tampa Bay Rays acquired injured reliever Jesse Crain from the Chicago White Sox on Monday in an attempt to bolster their bullpen for the AL East stretch run.
The White Sox will receive players to be named or cash for Crain.

They plan on rebuilding, but traded away a valuable reliever for nothing.

I wouldn't mind Pence finding his way to Cincinnati.

Kevin Gregg is dealt to the Tigers. They need a closer.

Kevin Gregg would be their 3rd best option in the bullpen.

... and for that matter, if anyone trades for Gregg and gives up more than some pine tar I would be very impressed by Theo Einstein, er I mean Epstein.

Young is rumored to only want to go to the Rangers... But again this is what happens trade deadline time.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Angels are "hopeful" of landing Ian Kennedy.

Who runs the Angels? Is it Nando? :what:

Michael Young has changed his stance and says he would consider other places if Philly asked. Boston is his second choice of where he'd like to go.

Also the Mariners are letting everyone know that Michael Morse is very available.

All this talk and watch, nobody goes anywhere.

The Red Sox struck a deal with the Chicago White Sox Tuesday night in order to bring Jake Peavy to Boston, CBS Sports Baseball Insider Jon Heyman first reported. Multiple players are reportedly in the deal that should be officially announced Wednesday.

That’s the word from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. More coming.

Heyman reports that Jose Iglesias is one player involved and that it’s more than a one-for-one deal. Jackie Bradley Jr. wasn’t believed to be on the table.

WEEI’s Alex Speier is reporting that it is actually a three-team deal, with the Tigers involved. Iglesias would make a great deal of sense for Detroit with Jhonny Peralta facing a Biogenesis suspension. Avisail Garcia was pulled out of Triple-A Toledo’s game earlier tonight, so he might be Chicago bound in such a trade.

The addition of Peavy, who is owed $14.5 million next year, would give Boston added protection in case Clay Buchholz struggles to return from his neck problems down the stretch. It’s expensive insurance, though, with no guarantee that Peavy is much of an upgrade over Ryan Dempster or Felix Doubront in a projected four-man postseason rotation that also includes Buchholz, Jon Lester and John Lackey. Of course, the Red Sox have to worry about reaching the postseason first.
