You should be able to find some 1080p sets on Amazon for a good price. Walmart will always be on the low end.

I just bought a 4k TV that I'm going to post a review here on...that said...when you say for the time being...what will you do with the TV when the time being has passed?

Ok...the reason I ask is the prices are coming down so much on 4k TVs it almost doesn't make sense to buy a 1080 set anymore, but in that case I think it probably does.

Thanksgiving/black Friday is just around the corner. That'd make it easier to find in that range if you can wait that long.

55" might be a little tougher to get a decent set for that range, but you're right, the price point is out there for that size....Sansui, has one at walmart I think.

Keep an eye out on slickdeals.net. I wouldn't order one online but I would take advantage of a decent sale on one from a big box store. I'm looking to pick up a new 32"-45ish" TV somewhat soon but I just haven't found the right deal. I've seen a few 43" ones for a solid price but I figure they will be $50-$75 cheaper on Black Friday.

Department stores almost always run deals on TVs. I order almost all my electronics online however TVs are not one of them. I like the ability to quickly return the tv if needed. For instance, I've never had a problem returning a TV due to a deal pixel to a department store. Some online sites will not allow a return for this.

I know you can grab 40"-42" TVs (some are even Roku Smart TVs) for $190-$300 at wally world.
