Sorry, I don't hunt anymore for mammals. Then I went to the Governor's annual pheasant hunt a couple of weeks ago and they asked us not to shoot anything 'cuz the pheasant population was so depleted. our group didn't get off a single shot or bring down a pheasant.

Umm. I do live in SD and I was invited to the pheasant hunt 'cuz I co-hosted 2 fund raising parties for the gov whom I'm on a first name basis with. Just FWIW, I'm also good friends with Congressman Kevin Brady, chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and a couple of secret service agents who were detailed to the Clintons.

They were 18 pt dogs to Florida St in the '93 Orange Bowl.

Not sure if there's been a bigger spread since. I'd think so, but I don't recall.

Great state from May-Sept though. Worth your trip.

Well, myself and 4 friends created a company in the oilfields of ND. And things were going very well until the Saudi's created the oil price crash. I didn't think much of it when it first occurred, but it was very bad for our company. Anyway, I had to travel to ND constantly. The number of pheasants between the northern SD border and south of Dickinson, ND, exceeded anything I'd seen. They were everywhere and I'd never heard a word about there being so many pheasants up there. I sent several hunters up there and they all filled in 1 day.

Sucks what happened to the South Dakota and Nebraska Pheasant populations. Drought got them bad a few years ago.
Nebraska always had good pheasant, but South Dakota was always better.
I remember hitting at least 3 on every trip to Lake Oahe about 10 years ago. I haven't hit one in years. I still see them, but their numbers are way down.

Cold and wet. Miserable. Surrounded by OU fans as we took a timeout with 3 seconds left to hang 3 on the board.
