This argument isnt really about 8 or 9 conference games, it is about certain schools decisions regarding their open games. If the 4 OOC games were Oregon, Baylor, Wisconsin, and VT there is no complaints. If the 9th game is UK and the OOC is FBS, La directional, and MAC doormat than nothing has really changed. Only fix I see to that is a larget playoff that rewards conference champs and de-emphasizes the importance of OOC games
Really the point is there are no teams that have that kind of 4 game OOC. NONE. No one is playing Oregon Baylor Wisky and VT in their OOC. They are playing maybe Wisky, two lower FBS, and a FCS.
Why should the others add more IC's? Really for the same reason the Pac still has it. More trips to your own conferences recruiting grounds.
But I'm entirely against 14 team conferences. In fact I'm not fond of 12 team versions either. 10 was perfect. You played every damned team in your conference every year. Far less questions about the validity of conference winners when there weren't any questions about which teams you skipped and what impact that had vs those that didn't get to skip some of the better teams. The more conf games you have, the less those issues are present.
