Both Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole have seen significant greater spin rates on their pitches, and Charlie Morton has added 5 MPH to his fastball.

Are they doctoring the balls?-No comment.:happyshake:
Are they all on PEDs?-
Does the warmer climate in Houston help their grip? - They play home games indoors.
Do the Astros have the greatest pitching coach of all time?:first:

Or it could be access to Whataburger.

MLB cities with Whataburger

Houston...Team ERA 2.73 1st
Arizona....Team ERA 2.96 2nd

Then the Rangers....Team ERA 4.93 25th:scratch: They must not be going to Whataburger. Well, except Batrolo Colon he has found the foutian of youth and has a 2.87 ERA

Just a theory.

Gerrit Cole:

2017: 8.69 K/9
2018: 13.87 K/9

not sure what to make of it. that's a crazy jump though.

Cole had this slider going a few years back, sadly in his case it is just happy to be out of Pittsburgh.

As someone who watched pretty much every pitch from Cole and Morton for years, I tend to think there's no way they're suddenly this fucking good, especially Morton.

Let's see how they're doing at the end of June.

Could be the Jalapeno cheeseburgers. I hear they can add a couple MPHs to the fastball.
no, they just add a couple miles an hour to your tuck butt trot to the crapper!

Some teams needs to give Cole an era adjustment, maybe mulitple teams.

I like what we got back now tbh, Moran looks to solid and Cole looks to be the most expensive free agent after next year.

There are some things not even Whataburger can save...

Spin rate is easier to coach than anything.

It has nothing to do with physical prowess imo.

I don't care if anyone wants to say JV is roider. He's a douche and a half. He's also a fucking baseball beast that lives for legacy. New influences are good for him. Dude has a boner for baseball.
