What is the point of starting a rookie QB week 1 if you bench him by week 5?

with the Browns a virtual lock to be in position to draft one of the best 1-3 QB's, would they?
They absolutely have to. Kizer was a mid 2nd round pick. If he develops, fine. But we CANNOT pass on a top guy.

Amazingly the Browns received rave review for their draft, and so much of it had to do with them "stealing" Kizer in Round 2

Now because it's the Browns, Mahomes, Watson and Trubinsky will end up in the HOF

No thanks. We can go 1-15 without a shitshow in the locker room as well.

Repeating myself, but the bigger question IMO is how this affects Kizers' projected future, basically meaning, with the Browns a virtual lock to be in position to draft one of the best 1-3 QB's, would they? how much weight have they put into what they have seen from Kizer, in terms of his and the Browns future?

I think the Browns have to take the BPA. If it's QB, take a QB...they don't owe Kizer anything as a 2nd rd pick...I would think he'd have a shot to compete with said draft pick, but I could also see him being traded. I could see NE jumping in on a deal like that.

Im probably in the minority, but if im a high pick team, like the Browns or Giants, I would try to acquire Garrappolo and draft the kid Barkley out of Penn State....IMO thats a helluva start of a new era

I would say that you want to see progression

at some point, you owe it to the other 50+ guys to give your team a shot at winning

Kizer has been dreadful and seemingly worse every week, Hue owes it to the other guys to give them the best chance to win
Yeah, he has been pretty embarrassing at the QB spot but even with a decent QB the Browns are probably only 1-4 or maybe 2-3 right now.

As an outsider, the 2017 QB draft looked like a bunch of high upside projects. When teams get desperate and see which guys sink or swim, some will sink and some will swim.

Some good team will pick up Kizer and develop him as a backup when the Browns get rid of him.

I'm not that high on him as a starter on a team like CLE especially....if I'm AZ and the price is not more than a 2nd round pick.

If I were going to spend some picks on a stop gap QB, I would try to get Alex Smith next season.

Alex Smith to Jacksonville seems almost too perfect next season

I can see that....but, they are built much like SEA was prior to RW getting his deal...very top heavy on DEF with their cap space...that would have to change to bring in a $16-$20 mil per QB...based on Bortles 5 game production, they should try to find the money for him.

LOL.....Not sure how long it could last that a team could have success like Jax, in which they do EVERYTHING possible to avoid their QB doing ANYTHING at all

"him" was intended to be Smith!

No, I know.....I was just making a different, somewhat related point

I understand, they should make room for Smith

I didnt think you meant Bortles...LOL

Bortles is moving towards a backup role for his 2nd NFL contract.

Tony Garrapolo in CLE is not the worst thing to happen, but I don't see him as the long term answer as a starter. Even with Garapolo, I would still take the top QB off the board and move Kizer.

Im a bigger fan of Jimmy than you

yes, the shelf life of a backup QB in the NFL is amazing......Kellen Clemons still backs up in SD...Matt Cassell, etc.

Amazing that Bortles probably has a decade of football ahead of him

FWIW, Jacksonville is only 23rd in cap space next year. I dont think Jacksonville is the most likely team at all
