What is everybody's thoughts on Kobe Bryant?

I do have him in the top 10 all time but i dont think him or anybody else will touch the 6 players of Jordan, Wilt, Kareem, Bird, Magic, and Russell.

Oh he's definitely up there. He is a great player, but I really don't care for him though. Only because he knocked down the GW against the Grizz at my 1st NBA game.

I havent watched every great play. I am just a fan of the history of the game. I dont like doing these lists but here it goes.

1. Jordan
2. Wilt
3. Russell
4. Kareem
5. Bird
6. Magic
7. Hakeem
8. Duncan
9. Kobe
10. Shaq

Kobe is a great player even though he is overrated and underrated on this board quite a bit.

He did win 2 titles without Shaq why Shaq only won 1 without Kobe.

Shaq has to be on this list because he was the intimidating physical force ever to step on the floor.

The immortal/big/top 6 i dont think will ever change and the order you put them in really doesnt matter either because no matter what most people will have that 6 as their top 6 ever in NBA history.

As for my favorites of all time i like Nique, Parish, Kemp, Payton, Archibald, Barry, Hagan, Wilkens, etc

I can agree with that top 10. I might switch Shaq and Kobe since I believe that Shaq was more dominant in his position than Kobe is in his.

Well Shaq got worse and worse as the seasons went along because he didnt stay in shape and injuried caught up to him that way.

Kobe is still somewhat in his prime. Shaq was up and down after the 02 season.

Well 7-10 can really go either way but in his prime there was no center more versatile then Hakeem. He was in his early to mid 30s in the 95 finals and outplayed a much younger and bigger Shaq in the finals that year.

When ranking players you usually rank them based off stats, achievements, dominance and impact on their era.

Hakeem didn't do it to the level of Jordan, Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, Russell, Bird, Magic, Duncan or even Kobe.

Which is why I have him at 10.

It also depends on how impressed you were by the player when they were in their prime and i think more people were impressed by what Hakeem was able to do in his prime then what Shaq, Duncan, and Kobe did in theirs.

Really, it all depends on how history views him in a couple of decades time. You can argue Kobe is the closest players to Michael Jordan. With Mike being #1 where does that rank Kobe?

It wouldn't surprise me in 20 years time people will look at his stats, achievements and highlight plays and possibly rank him in the top 5

Definitely in my top 10. And arguably the Best Laker ever. Still highly debatable if him or Magic.
