What are the chances Iowa gets Ohio State on a hangover?

weird shit happens in Iowa when the visiting team is in the top 10. Last year's Michigan game, this year's PSU game (took them the final play to beat Iowa despite outgaining them by 306 yards), Penn State in 2008...

I just don't know where Iowa gets the points from, so the defense is going to have to hold OSU to a bunch of FG's as OP suggested

vs Penn State, they came when the defense got turnovers or held them inside the PSU 30 and the punt went to mid-field. They also put together a TD drive right before halftime. Iowa's return game is okay. They are not hurtful in any way but not as good as Desmond King.

Iowa has the talent to have a good offense, but QB not being developed enough, play calling, and OL struggling has the offense struggle. Iowa might actually put 1-2 TD drives and then 5-6 three-and-punts.

MSU in 2010 as well

Michigan-Iowa 2003. I don't really think it was much of an upset (Michigan was #9 and Iowa was #23), that Iowa team was really good. But that game was decided by a blocked punt (Iowa had nearly blocked several other ones earlier as well). That Michigan team had a lot of talent, but man did the special teams play fuck us over that year (they missed several extra points and allowed a punt return in their loss to Oregon as well).

not to mention Iowa stunned Michigan in 2011... games at Kinnick always make me nervous.

Even in the losses to highly ranked teams over the last 10 years at home pretty much all the games have been close . I remember a 1 point loss AND a 2 point loss to top 10 Wisconsin teams, a 3 point loss to a top 10 OSU, a 4 point loss to a top 15 MSU, a 6 point loss to a top 15 Nebraska, a 8 point loss to a top 10 Wisconsin as well and obviously this year vs Penn St. That goes along with 6 or 7 top 15 type home wins over that span. I'd be surprised if it's not srmi close but you never know

I was thinking the same thing @rmilia1 . If the committee is going to rank a 3 loss team, it's going to be them. I can see them ranking Iowa ahead of a team like Arizona, or even a team like NC State(only 2 .500+ wins). I think those are the only 2 realistic teams they could be ahead, at least according to who is currently ranked in the AP top 25. Michigan State is 6-2 and has the H2H win. Wazzu has beaten USC and 3 other .500+ teams.
Well you're the master if this stuff so if you agree I feel better that I'm not just homering lol

This game will likely be close at half-time, with Buckeyes getting it all together in the second half and pulling away.

There was a thread right before the year asking what game scares you as a fan and I listed this one. Had all the makings of a classic trap game

BTN is sure talking up Iowa this week. Not saying it will be upset, but making it clear it could be very close. They are not talking about hangover or Ohio State emotions. They are talking about Kirk Ferentz, Kinnick Stadium, and Iowa's defense.

That makes me a little nervous.

Iowa will have to load up the box to defend the run. It will come down to Barett and the receivers, if they play like they did against Penn State, the Hawkeyes are in serious trouble, otherwise it should be a close game

Iowa gives up yards but not points. Iowa has allowed less points than Ohio State in both overall season vs B1G.

So what you're really saying is Iowa has already won the game?:D

What are the chances Iowa State becomes the premier college football program in the State of Iowa for the next decade and beyond....as long as Matt Campbell remains with the Cyclones?

Heck.....Ames might become the center of the Iowa universe.....and Cyclones football might actually become more popular than the Iowa State Fair!

Depends how much money Iowa State will be willing to spend. When offered by big name football programs, will ISU match?

My point still stands, if Ohio States passing game is firing on all cylinders, Iowa is in trouble
