This is gonna be a tough game to try and win.

We need to do two things well.
1. Run the Ball
2. Stop the Run

And one thing better than most.

Pass the ball

The Texans pass defense is tops in the league That said if put up at least 165 yards and 1 TD passing that should be considered a good outing. Specially if we can come away with a win. It's a tough task but it would be huge for your season if we could come away with the 'W'.

I know 165 and 1 TD doesn't sound like much but look at their last three games.

WK 3 - 161y 0 TD 0 Int ~ Ravens
WK 4 - 91y 1 TD 1 Int ~ Seahags
WK 5- 113y 0 TD 0 Int ~ 49ers

Considering two of those three were in the Superbowl teams last year.

I'd say we do good get at least 165y 1 TD

Some thoughts:
Almost all of the Texans injured players are expected to be fit.
Running at Watt is a bad idea. Running away from Watt is also a bad idea. If we're going to run it'll have to be up the middle.
Stats can be misleading. The Ravens, Seahawks, and 49ers are running teams with major rushing threats. The defensive passing and rushing stats for the Texans are skewed.
We won't make great inroads running the ball so we'll likely need 250+ yards from Bradford.
Don't run and 2nd/3rd & short. We're far too predictable. Line up with 2 WRs close together, (threaten a bubble-screen), on either side. It'll take DBs away from run support.
Trying to pass block with 7 or 8 guys won't work. We've got WR & TE receiving depth so make the Texans cover them.
Don't throw passes to receivers 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Fake the hand-off and let RBs find zone gaps 4 yards downfield.
Put TEs next to OTs and chip block rather than line them up 3 yards outside.
Keep WRs away from the OL to pressure the Ss starting position.
If we run outside WRs deep we need a seam-route receiver to pressure the Ss.
If we don't run receivers deep there won't be an underneath to exploit.
Defensively we have to pressure and confuse Schaub. That requires multiple defenders close to the line and CBs 5-7 yards from WRs.
Schaub isn't on form reading defenses. The 49ers caused problems dropping DL into zone blitz coverage.

Personally i'd like to see more of McNeil at TE and FB if he's healthy. He's aggressive and physical. It's something we need because we're relying too much on finesse and speed.

Sam: see how Even Schaub steps up during a pass rush and dumps it to Foster?

Textbook

Even Schaub can do it. And Houston hates Schnub SO much. And this guy has actually done something.

We get looking on a deep route with Quick and Sammie getting smacked in the head. 40 yard penalty. That gets us within field goal range, our normal offensive production for the first quarter.

Harkey was lined up in the backfield as a fullback. Nice offensive series and we get a TD in the first.

Play calling great so far. Establish run, throw it deep, then it opens up the greatest dink and dunk show on earth. :suds:

Finally a good drive early in the game, Bradford went deep and got the penalty and Stacy provided good runs and then topped off with great play fake for a wide open touchdown pass. Now if the Rams could just keep doing that for the rest of the game.

Big play we just gave up. Went to a blitz and lost the crossing route!
