No way RR gets fired. Mariota and Wentz are excellent stop gaps or could be avg to good starters in the league. I do believe Seattle is targeting Wills at #9 now. I think Pickett would be there at #11. If we get average QB play we will be a playoff team.

If you take a Qb in the 2nd rd this year, wouldn't that stop the FO from taking a QB in the 1st rd next year?

The allure of Trubisky (and to a lesser extent, Mariota) is that he still has the "he still might be good" mystery about him. I.e, he's got the physical tools, but the bears offense could've been a bad fit, bad coaches, early year jitters/pressure, etc.

It'll be interesting to see where Trubisky goes.

His former OC is the HC in NY. Their FO has publicly committed to Jones for another year, so Trubisky could get a "chance to compete" for the starting job while already knowing the offense. He doesn't step into NY being a bridge QB; he's the challenger and familiarity with the coaches could give him a couple of years to get his feet under him.

OTOH, Washington has a much better team around him AND the coaches could agree to name him the Day 1 starter as soon as he signs. THAT could be the Commies trump card b/c the NYG won't do that. But will he want to be the bridge QB?

There’s interest bc he is a former high first round pick who had ok stats when he started with a coach who is known to be bad at developing qbs.

Also, there is plenty of history of doing well with their second teams in which they got a chance to start. Our own Taylor Heinicke outplayed his draft position to be a viable nfl player ( I didnt say starter) when he came to his second team.

Tannenhil, JGarropollo, stafford (though he was good on the lions), Cousins (though he was debateably good on the redskins), Brees, etc.
