We at the Atlantic Coast Conference realize that there's tremendous anticipation for the release of the 2012 ACC Football schedule. The conference office and member institutions are equally in anticipation and are taking steps to expedite finding appropriate solutions. As has been documented, there are a number of unusual circumstances beyond the control of the ACC and its member schools that have directly impacted a number of our school's nonconference schedules, which in turn effects the development and completion of the overall schedule. Please know that all parties are working diligently and we appreciate everyone's continued patience.

What is the holdup?.....We still waiting on FSU to find a replacement for WVU? I doubt who ever they end up with will cause date changes to the rest of the ACC schedule. Release the thing already!!! :bored:

It actually can. If the only team FSU can get can only play in late October then that changes a lot of things for the conference schedule

GT was the problem, but their situation is resolved. Nothing should be holding the schedule up anymore. So yea, hopefully it comes out today.

Speaking of schedules, take a look at the range of days for spring practice...

I realize the NCAA allows a certain number of hours for practice, but it seems odd that VT crams their spring practices into a 25 day period, while schools like Clemson have their spring practice spanning 39 days, WVU's practices span 42 days, Wisconsin's span 43 days, and Cincy's spans 45 days.

You would think there has to be an advantage to having additional days alloted....at least more time to cheat the system.

You would think there has to be an advantage to having additional days alloted....at least more time to cheat the system.

I trust the coaches know what they are doing with this. Right now they are going through the winter workouts, so it isn't like they are doing nothing. I feel there could be benefits to having practice over a shorter period of time with possibly longer practices. It's easier to coach players if you see them every day as opposed to every other day. Also, some of those really long spans go over spring break so you would have to take out 9 days unless they are making them practice over that (which is just mean).

I suppose the tightened schedule is to maximize efficiency and get the players full throttle. It may allow them to operate closer to their summer and fall routines than other programs. Timing seems to avoid the crappy early spring weather, misses spring break and exams, and sets up a usually good Saturday for the spring game. I think it has some advantages.
