Sark didnt seem like the BIG splash coach to me really. Not that he is a bad coach, I just thought USC would go bigger.

This is the right choice. He's a very good offensive mind. It's the defense that killed him at UW and he stuck with Holt way too long. Holt should have been let go one year earlier than he was.

I think both teams won. I honestly hate Sark for what he did but I think he is a good fit at USC. I believe Petersen to be a better coach overall but think Sark fits in better at USC than Petersen would have.

I am happy we were able to upgrade and I think with the resources at Sark's disposal he should do well at USC. Well enough that he may eventually get an NFL offer and ditch USC just as he did UW.

Didn't Peterson "ditch" Boise for UW? Or it only works one way?

You may be right. Head Coaches don;t leave USC for another college job. The Pros yes (Carrol - Robinson). But I guess some schools don;t have that kind of stature.

Sark was the first coach to walk away from UW in I don't know how long. A very long time.

All the rest were shit canned. Most of which never should have been hired...

1956 was the last time a UW head coach left to go coach another team without being fired. And Royal went on to become a legend at Texas.

I didn't say coaches don't get fired if they don;t perform. You couldn't even get Mora a wash alum to go back .

Mora told one of his friends that he hasn't taken the job at UW twice because of the pressure of coaching here. He is from here and when the Seahawks struggled under him he found it hard to even go around town or spend time with his friends. He believes the pressure would be greater going to his alma mater than coaching almost anywhere else.

Had UCLA not been doing so well under him and maybe had he not only been there two years who knows if he changes his mind, but the situation wasn't right for him. That's not a question of getting a guy to come back. Sometimes the timing isn't right.

I said before he turned it down that I didn't want him to come back. I had Petersen above him because Mora's kids play with the same lack of discipline that Sark's did.

Say what you want, but we ended up with the best coach out there that was on their radar and I couldn't be more happy.
