Under Armour to discontinue record apparel partnership with UCLA

UCLA is fighting it but Under Armour says it has a legal clause that allows them to do it. The claim is that Under Armour isn't receiving the marketing benefit they paid for.

This is interesting territory as I don't recall this happening before and particularly to a P5 program.

Terminating the deal because Covid-19 restrictions mean no sports, or no fans at sports, for perhaps the whole 2020-2021 school year? Renegotiate the terms or say goodbye.

Auburn is with UA but I'm not worried because we could get a new contract tomorrow with Nike. Bruce Pearl would be all over it because it would then give him access to Nike camps which is a big deal in BBall.

We were with Russell for years because they used to have their HQ in Alexander City, AL. When the textile industry collapsed after everything moved to South and Central American there just wasn't much of it left. There was a time when the Nike's of the world didn't pay any attention to college and high school football and Russel owned a pretty big slice of that market.

Once the big boys became big and decided to play in that sandbox it was pretty much over for Russel.
