Anybody else think McCaffery should be on the hot seat? They are trending towards missing the NCAA tournament after being one of the last teams in last year. He doesn't have an NCAA tournament win and he's in his 5th year with basically nothing to show. Also just having watched that game against Wisconsin it feels like the fans have become disinterested, that was a lousy atmosphere.

MSU beats UM 76-66 in OT...

I feel like burning my couch in shame anyway.

:L

State really sucks ass this year.
Shoulda been a massive, ugly blowout for the ages...instead, it
Was like Michigan was a "Make A Wish" kid being allowed to score at will.

That Rutgers game was scary, they shot the fucking lights out most of the game, and the refs sucked. And Johnson hasn't been the same since Purdue injured him. :L fucking inexcusable.

6-3 though. :/

This has to be the best coached team in college basketball. It's incredible how they are able to dominate opponents with only marginal talent.

Well, they don't have "marginal talent" right now. Frank and Sam will be first-rounders in the NBA next year, Nigel was a Top 100 player and is poised to be a star next year when he's a junior, sophomore Koenig went to Wisconsin after being recruited by almost everybody (North Carolina, Duke, Kansas, etc.), and so on. They have gone from "tourney team" to Final Four team due to a good amount of talent plus the Wisconsin way...

Being from Louisville, KY. how in the world did Buckeye PG D'Angelo Russell not end up @ either Lville or Kentucky?

That is surprising. They should have been heavily recruiting him. Although I'm not sure being the hometown kid was ever a sell for him considering he played 3 years of high school ball in Florida.

At least Wisky doesn't play defense either. Not getting to the FF like that.

Yeah, it sure didn't work for them last year with the same exact group of players/basically the same stats. Good point!

I think Purdue just punched their ticket. Another 4-5 wins by Selection Sunday won't be that difficult.

Ask yourself this.. why does Kentucky still keep landing the top recruiting class when these guys know they're going to sit the bench? Russell is in it to get to the NBA ASAP and Ohio State allowed him to do that. Bottom line here.. college basketball is a strange sport where you don't see a ton of loyalty to a particular team. At least that's the way it seems to me. I used to love college basketball, but lately I find myself not giving a shit what happens. Maybe it's because this feels like a down year...?

Russell is good as gone but does Matta really encourage that? I think it's a selling point with Calipari. Regardless, Kentucky is a blueblood and will always attract top talent as will Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA and IU.

And maybe some bling still exists?

I'm sure he does... but how else can you compete? We land some pretty good recruits, but as you mentioned, OSU isn't a premier landing site in CBB. I still talk to people who think Matta needs to go.. and that makes NO sense to me.

As I look at Iowa and it's remain schedule I think the Hawks have a solid shot at getting to 12 wins. If they can get passed maryland at home Sunday the rest of the schedule is Northwestern 2x, minnesota, Illinois and Rutgers at home with Penn state, Indiana and nebraska on the road. Very doable for a top 3 league finish

The top-middle of the BIG right now is a log jam! A lot of teams in that same area.

looks like Michigan State just beached itself upriver from the B1G jam you're talking about...Izzo's got a team in disarray and resurrection time's growing short.

:suds:thumbs-up to coach G and the Illini today (egwu draining those beautiful 3s reminded me of adreian payne in 2013)

That'd be a hell of a turn around, they're 5-4 in the B1G....

2 games against NW, one against Minnesota, Rutgers, Nebraska and PSU, that right there should be 6 wins. If they do finish 21-10 heading into the B1G tournament, that should be enough to have a bid secured. Probably in the 9/10 range I'd imagine. If they do go 7-2 but lose to MD and IU, they will only have 3 wins against the top 50, and would be something like 7-10 against the top 100. Very weak resume, but would likely be enough.

Yeah but we are done with wisconsin, osu, msu, michigan, purdue. Still get nw, minny, rutgers, illini, may land at home. That should be 4-1 worst case I think. Psu, nw, nebraska and iu on the road. Even 2-2 there gets you to 12 wins. Honestly iowa will be favored to win every game the rest of the year aside from at Indiana so 12 wins isn't crazy. Tomorrow will tell a lot. I think 21-10 gets iowa a 6 or 7 type seed. No bad losses a good sos and 10 or 11 top 100 wins by that point if it happens
