Tourney hopes?

They've been past tourney hopes in their history. They've played in the tournament before. Playing an NCAA tournament game is bigger than this game.

It would take winning an NCAA tournament game to be the biggest game in Husker history.

Yes that was ONE of the factors I listed as an argument for this game, thanks for pointing that out

This. A new arena and a new coach can be a program changer if you seize the momentum. Look at Wisconsin. A random NCAA tourney bid that nobody thought could revitalize a program isn't near as important. You need to seize the momentum of a new arena to recruit better in the short term. And if you recruit better in the short term, and consistently make the tournament and win a few games here and there, you could be out of bottom-feeder status for the long-term.

Yes. Those things can be program changers.

However, this is not Nebraska's biggest game in it's "history". Win this game, win an NCAA tourney game, then the "NEXT" game would be "the biggest game in program history". This game is not even #2, #3, or #4 in it's "history".

This is just another game on the road to try to get back to where they've already been.

Huskers neeed to play up to that Big 10 #2 defense ranking, keep their turnovers under 10, and Petteway needs to get back to how he was shooting 3 weeks ago.

Wisconsin's playing for a #1 seed and Nebraska's playing just to get iinto the tourney.
