Leadoff double.
He'll be standing at second when the inning ends.
I'll gladly eat my crow there.
At least Freddie came to play.

Im telling yall once we get Acuna and Gohara we gonna be good this year!!
WTF was he thinking.....Nola was dominating us. I understand opening Day he cant throw 100 pitches but he was only at 63....I would at least let him go to 85-90@Omar 382
Not a very good managing debut for Gabe Kapler.
Way too quick of a hook for Nola, who was dealing IMO.
Posted about this over on the Padres' board. I was and am ok with it, obviously didn't work out our way.@Omar 382

Being totally serious, I did like the move to take Nola out. I'm a big fan of keeping our ace's pitch count down. Obviously, 20/20, but if we can't count on our bullpen to hold a 5 run lead with 1 out in the 6th inning against a mediocre lineup, then we don't deserve to win.
I'm not so sure about taking Hoskins' bat out of the lineup, but to be fair, the score was 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th when he took him out, so the odds of him getting another PA were fairly slim. Plus, it was Herrera who took his spot in the lineup, it wasn't like some scrub.
Still, man what a disappointing loss. It'll be interesting to see if Kap backs off his gameplay after this.
I can deal with him. As long as he hits .260-.270 I will be happy.I hope so.
I'm not too confident in Markakis even after tonight. He just happened to a get a shot against a pitcher he has owned.
