I'm hoping they start grabbing players that have no business being in college other than their football talent. The colleges are just a gigantic scheme stealing the property (talent) of the players, for their own economic gain.

This is kind of the only way any minor league football can happen. The USFL went out of business because they couldn’t afford to keep paying talent drafted by the NFL. There is a legal way right now for a minor league to work and that is getting players the NFL cannot legally get at the moment and that is kids coming out of HS. But, IMO, the XFL is more of a Vince McMahon and his best buddy of trying to find a way into being let in buying a franchise in the NFL since they were blackballed when they have tried.

I really don't see the XFL getting many viewers in March and April with March Madness, The Masters and then Baseball starting up. I think they need viewership to survive, just don't see it happening.

They don't need as much as you think to survive. There is a reason they have worked the tv deals for the time slots that they have. They are network deadzones, so any bump will be a huge improvement. Also the tv deal is set up with not rights fees for the networks to have to pay, and in exchange the networks pick up all production costs, which takes away overhead for the league.

It's positioned way better than previous attempts at new pro football leagues.

Great late game today, and a great 4th in the early game.

I actually never even switched over to the Bruins game, and just stayed on the XFL, with an occasional peak in at NASCAR to see if they were rained out officially or not.

So, first time I’ve watched more than highlights, the quality of play seems on par with the G5 tier of college football. Maybe it’ll get better with some more time, or maybe I’m just watching two teams having a bad game, but the highlights I’ve seen definitely made it look way better than what I’m watching right now.

If it can't even beat college football then it is well and truly fucked.

Because college football is shit. Only relevant if you have an Alma Mater..... And barely even then.

It's doing exactly how it's supposed to do, and actually just a little better.

Sucks to be you.

today a odd issue arose 2 times today. the defensive team commited a personal foul when scored against.
instead of just moving the kicker up 15 yards, why not just give the ball to the receiving team on the 15.
Anybody else have a suggestion?

I was listening to the first game while driving today. McElroy said they should enforce the penalty after the return. I'm fine with that, but the XFL wants to push scoring so if it were me I'd make it an automatic first down.

I love the kickoff in this league and could see it being something implemented in both the college and NFL ranks but it is a loophole that benefits the team that commits the penalty.

Not sure what the ratings or attendance numbers are like but this does seem like both a better product than AAF and it just seems to be getting more excitement and attention. Maybe it's because it's new but that seems like a good first step.

I posted this on another thread, during yesterdays LA at NY game.

well we clearly have a team Houston that is pretty much better than the other 9.
the LA head coach is bad. I see that some of these coaches do not yet understand the rules of this league yet.

LA was a really dumb choice for a team anyways. They don't even show up to NFL games when they had the chance.

Dallas needs to learn how to hold onto a football!
New York has really turned their season around. Houston seems to be the best team.
