Unlike its first try and other leagues, I think this time the XFL will last.

the backing and support from ESPN and FOX certainly helps with not only promotion but also production. It has a much more legitimate feel.

curious what new innovative things will come from the league.

already could see the NFL poaching the kickoff rule.

just seems like a much more intelligent and methodical second try by Vince

Is Fox televising the games on Sundays? Haven't seen a game yet. That would give it cred.

I don’t think the XFL is trying to compete with the NFL. I think they’re plan is to be it’s own league and not play during the same months as NFL, so there isn’t really any competition.

It’s just whether or not it can be sustainable

Not a chance this latest of numerous alternatives to the NFL will last more than a couple of seasons. Not a chance.

Completely disagree with you. Gambling is king. Football is king. Add in espn and fox being behind it. They will do just fine.

they already topped profits, or sale expectations for the year. They are financed up front for 3 years...they have major network backing, and incorporating betting....yep it survives

It will definitely survive and other than the double forward pass I like some of new rules. Crazy thing is the refs seem better.

We already have an inferior brand of football. They play on Saturdays. Not sure why we need another.

their website is good. they are already pushing the line of merchandise of all 8 teams.
the teams play will improve as the season progresses. I do like the drive to score points.
the NFL has gotten too dry and old school.

I hope it dies a quick death.

I'm surprised...I thought you'd be watching every game possible? :D

I personally think the NFL season is enough football for me, but I don't care to see the NFL continue to have a monopoly on pro football in the US. So from that angle alone, I don't mind it.

My guess is it will fail if they attempt to be a true rival league and vie for the 1st round talent...the labor cost will be too high for the revenue. But...if they want to be a minor league professional league I can see them making it more as a developmental league but not as an alternative to the NFL.

I watched the DC vs Seattle game yesterday and it looked like pretty good football. I could see this working.

I actually enjoyed both games yesterday.

There will be people that complain that it isn't as good/talented, as the NFL. Well duh! Neither is College football, or High School fooball. People need to enjoy it for the level that it is, a tier below the NFL.

I'm looking forward to todays two games.

Interesting rules. The kickoff is cool because they're not just letting it go into the end zone. Down nine points is still a one possession game. I like the pace. Some decent talent.

They made the initial investment to sufficiently cover payroll unlike they did XFL's first time around. Seventeen thousand people in attendance at a minimum of $20 per ticket should hopefully sustain it.
