It's recognition, possibly a pay bump and a free vacation for the players. It is bragging rights for the fans of the players going. It is a sorry ass excuse for a football game, but so be it. I have no problem with it and to my knowledge have never been forced to watch it.
....they used to get [I think] between $15/20-grand bonus/each player,...loser-less/winner-more......gotta be less than their SB/$hare's....?

I never said it isn't lame: in fact, I think it is. I was just showing OP that SOMEONE actually cares and that as long as the game keeps generating those kinds of ratings, it's not going anywhere.

I think at some point the players union will shut it down. Too many injuries already in this sport. Lawsuits piling up. The NFL just keeps poking the bear.

Pro bowl ratings the past 3 years:
  • 5.6 - '15
  • 6.7 - '14
  • 7.7 - '13
It's definitely in a downward spiral... I admit, I tuned in for the first time in years last year to see how it was different that years past... The guys played hard... I like the new format, especially the drafting part... I will definitely be tuning in again... Starting w/ Wednesday nights drafting of the teams...

Is anyone really watching any more? Why do they insist on risking guys getting injured in a meaningless game in what is quickly becoming the National Concussion League?

Discuss
They should just play touch football.

So will any of the eliminated QB's show up for the pro bowl?

My bet is Palmer probably won't, Brady is a hell no, Ben is damaged, Wilson will probably go, Rodgers is not likely, and I'm not sure if Cousins even got invited. Pretty sure Teddy and Alex Smith weren't on the guest list either. Has any QB confirmed they are going yet? They might have to play the whole game without QB's by using the wildcat.

I haven't watched it in a while. I think the main benefit is for players who can use it in contract negotiations, and people who want a Hawaii vacation and some football takes place.

Do they still even play it in Hawaii? I have a vague memory that it was in Miami one year recently.

It was in Arizona last year. It's back in Hawaii this year.

For all the stupid shit the NFL does, at least they didn't try to make it more than it is by doing something totally idiotic like making it count for home field advantage in the Super Bowl or something.

Unlike that other dumbass sports league *coughMLBcough*
