Been quiet for trades tonight so far, still think we'll get some player movement. Not a fan of Tkachuk to the Sens at all.

Great trade for the Caps. 5.5M off the books next year and will likely allow us to re-sign Carlson.

Oh, and Brooks Orpik leaving is very good.

Obviously things turned out okay, but deer god that deal was awful from the start. I am also very biased because I really hated him by the end of his days in Pittsburgh. Can’t believe someone took him. Then again the Avs have the space...basically used it to get a goalie cheaper.

Orpik actually played well this past postseason. Just no where near worth 5.5M. For all reports, he's done a great job being a mentor to a lot of younger players (Kuznetsov being the oddest of the bunch).

Avs plan is to either flip him (lol, good luck) or buy him out.

It looks like the Caps are close to signing Carlson and he'll be the second highest paid player on the team after Ovechkin.
