Boy I don't know about Amare. Aside form the money issues, he has a tendency to be lazy and take minutes off.

Byron Scott can coach up Upshaw and Stoudemire will sign a relatively cheap deal. 2 years or so for around 8-9 million.

I wouldn't waste any money on Stoudemire as a player unless the Lakers are considering him as a coaching spot along with Nash and Maddog.

Pretty much, the guy is on the edge of retirement and his body is made of glass. With a franchise as storied as the Lakers, I doubt the young guys are in desperate need of more mentoring.

If we don't sign Aldridge then we might as well settle in for a couple years of missing the playoffs. Unless one of the young guys breaks out to be a future 1st ballot hall-of-famer then it's going to be a slow rebuild (for our standards that is).

I'm okay with it if need be. SOMEONE has to play the position. Why not bring back Hill and sign Stoudemire to 1 year deal? The money has to be spent anyway. He's used to a more uptempo style of play, which is probably what the Lakers will be playing since they have a young, athletic core.

Best case scenario, the "old heads" of Kobe and Amare each puts together a good final season and lead the Lakers to at least flirting with the playoffs while the young guys develop and learn from them.

Worst case, he and/or Kobe break down physically, we have a season of watching the youngsters figure things out and then go into FA with Kobe and Amare gone and lots of cap space.

Our first round draft pick next year that is, in theory, headed to the Sixers is top three protected. It'd be really cool to make the lottery and then nail the second round pick two years in a row. The odds of that must be pretty crappy but a fellow can dream a bit.

There's lots of wine in California for him to take a bath in. Seems like a logical fit
