Bryce Petty. Didn't play in the 2nd half due to being in a lot of pain from the back injury he sustained. My good friend who is a physical therapist and BU alum said this could be a problem all year, especially where he sustained the injury (around the lower back area). This injury is similar to a hamstring injury where you just have to let it heal itself and no type of medication or rehab will work it out. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Waco.....

Isn't that what forced Troy Aikman to retire from the NFL?

Oh no, Aikman retired b/c he was probably one more hit away from being full retard. Too many concussions.....

Like I posted last night, if it is a lower back muscle with rest and shitloads of prednisone (a fast acting steroid) he could be back next week. It'll still hurt like a motherfucker, but it should be tolerable. What keeps confusing me is them describing it as 'bruised'. Anyone know how he was injured? Helmet to the back? Awkward fall?

More of an awkward fall after getting hit pretty good. Yeah, he'll have to get that shot if he's going to play, but dude will be sore as hell after games and when it wears off.

It looked like he fell awkwardly.

if Bryce Petty can't play, what will Dairy Queen workers in Portland talk about?

If it's a ligament and muscle strain your friend is right. They left him out there way too long.

Ha. He will be sore. I spent 4 days in May unable to roll over due to a back injury. It sucks.

Not all back injuries are the same. It depends on what it was.

THIS ^^^^^ What he said. He also said he couldn't believe how long Briles left him b/c you could clearly see Petty was in pain the whole time. Again, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I would care about this if Texas didn't just lose the only returning OL, who has made every line call the last 3 yrs, and Ash is now out of thw BYU with concussion symptoms. I think he may be done, just me speculating

Yeah, I am just guessing it is the balancing and stabilizing muscle in his lower back.

If it's a ligament strain it's going to be a while. I'm sure muscles are involved as well.

If it involves ligaments, with his level of talent, I don't know if I'd come back. I hope it doesn't.

Ash is out for concussion. Feel bad for the kid. Who is behind him, Swoops or the freshman?
