March 17 Schedule

Texas(15-6) blew it against Kansas(14-5) on Sunday by losing 6-1. They did it in grand fashion with the score tied 1 all in the top of the ninth. A sacrifice bunt by Hernandez was the game winner, scoring one and then the pitchers really blew it with a walk when the bases were loaded. The 3rd baseman had an error leading to another run. Finally Curtiss hit a batter with the bases loaded scoring the final run.
Ugh.

Worst offensive team we've probably ever fielded at the 40 Acres the last 2 years. Only 4 runs scored total over the weekend against KfreakinU. Seriously, KU? Didn't even know they had a baseball team. How in the hell do we have such an awful offense the last 2 years? WTF is wrong with Augie? On the bright side, we might have the best pitching staff in the country, but the bats are awful and have been for some time now.

Texas(16-6) shutout Dallas Baptist(15-5) 5-0 in the midweek game. UT outhit DB 10-2 and didn't have an error. DP had 2 leading to 1 unearned run.
Mark Payton got back on track by going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs, a run and 2 walks.
Lukas Schiraldi(3-1) got the win with 8 innings allowing only 2 hits.

Texas(17-6) beat Columbia(5-10) 7-3 on Friday. The Longhorns had 13 hits! and Columbia had 12, fortunately the pitchers scattered them, Peters(3-1) got the win. Texas had the only error which led to 2 unearned runs in the Top of the 9th. The Longhorn's Collin Shaw went 3-4 with 3 RBIs and a run and teammate Jeremy Montalbano also went 3-4 and scored 2 runs.
The series ends on Saturday with a double-header.

Kentucky wore ya'lls ass out yesterday. And somehow we managed to spank FSU in the first game of that series. It was a good day!

Texas(19-6) took both double-header games, 6-1, 11-0 on Saturday and swept Columbia(5-12). It was the first sweep of the season, if one doesn't count the Houston College Classic.
It's hard to get excited since the Longhorns should have been expected to sweep Columbia, but it is satisfying.

Damn, me Beavs lost 2-3 games to ASU over the weekend. Well done Devils. Gotta get back to winning each series that comes our way again.

Watched the UNC/Ga. Tech series on ESPN3 this weekend. Gotta say that I like Aaron Fitt as an announcer. I know he is better known as the Baseball America writer, but he brings a REAL perspective on things when doing live games.

Texas(20-6) took down Texas State(15-9) 5-1 in the midweek game at Austin. Longhorns outhit the Bobcats 10-2. There were no errors and there was even a Home Run! Longhorn Ben Johnson hit his first of the season. The Longhorn have only hit 4 Home Runs and allowed only 1, so it was a bit of a surprise. Mark Payton got back on track going 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run. Lukas Schiraldi(4-1) got the win.
