Not sure why they would let him go, but he has been a god send. He reminds me of Doug Fister with all the movement on his pitches, except he throws harder.

He was a mediocre career minor league pitcher who was mediocre in his rookie year last year at age 25. He was expendable.
I wouldn't get too excited about him. In most cases what goes up must come down.
15 starts with a 3.70 ERA is mediocre for a rookie, while averaging over a strikeout an inning? I'd take that all day from a rookie starting pitcher.
And from what I read about him -- his struggles to start his minor league career had to do with command and it wasn't until 2013 where he scrapped one pitch and added a cutter. That is when he finally started to pitch well.
I think it's time we start thanking the other side of the table for Didi
