Not sure why they would let him go, but he has been a god send. He reminds me of Doug Fister with all the movement on his pitches, except he throws harder.

He was a mediocre career minor league pitcher who was mediocre in his rookie year last year at age 25. He was expendable.

I wouldn't get too excited about him. In most cases what goes up must come down.

15 starts with a 3.70 ERA is mediocre for a rookie, while averaging over a strikeout an inning? I'd take that all day from a rookie starting pitcher.

And from what I read about him -- his struggles to start his minor league career had to do with command and it wasn't until 2013 where he scrapped one pitch and added a cutter. That is when he finally started to pitch well.

Obviously I don't expect him to pitch like he has. I think we will see him pitch more like he did last year for NY. I will take that all day for a back end starter.

Why should it matter if he was a rookie or not, especially as he was pretty old for rookie standards....he was still a mediocre pitcher last year.

3.78 ERA when the league average was 3.81
1.40 WHIP when the league average was 1.28

And he averaged what, 5 innings a start last year? Pitchers often pitch worse the deeper into games they go (because of fatigue and hitters getting more looks), and this was no exception with Greene. Batters last year during the 1st time facing him in games last year hit .212 against him, but after the first time facing him hit .321. So how does Girardi try to shield him? By not letting him go too deep because he doesn't pitch well at that point.

And regarding his command, even when he got it under control in the minors, he was still giving up plenty of hits (well over a hit per inning).

And just like that, Shane Greene regresses to mediocrity after back-to-back horrendous outings.

think today was his last MLB start...Don't jump on the Collins or Ryan bandwagon next please.

I think it's time we start thanking the other side of the table for Didi

I think the Dbacks made out the best in that trade. Ray has consistently pitched well in his 12 starts. While he is due for some regression, he has shown he can pitch in a rotation.

Didi is Didi. He is a good but not great SS in the field & gets hot at times at the plate. But he will always consistently struggle to get on base.
