Joshua Dobbs starting for the Titans despite being on another team's PS about 8 days ago.

Uh, not a good luck for Malik Willis!

This game is really unusual one. It literally doesnt matter if the Titans win or lose. Their playoff chances all come down to the following week against Jacksonville. So they will throw Dobbs out there knowing if he is equally awful to Willis that they still can make the change if they needed to next week.

Not too often we see a week 17 preseason game but that really is what the Titans & Jags are playing this week.

Weren't the Titans in a similar game with the Saints like a year or two ago and started Tannehill (and Henry) anyways? Something smells about how they view Willis, seems a bit sour now. Maybe it's just me.

Kid is just not ready. That really shouldn't be a surprise.

And the problem in the NFL these days is that fans turn on young QB's and the fanbase hating a player can effect his performance and his development. Hell Tennessee was already starting to boo Willis. Smart by the franchise to try and protect him as much as they can.

.....and it probably doesnt hurt that the GM who drafted Willis just got shit canned too. One less person in the room pounding the table for him to be the starter.

The Draft Network's Justin Melo reports the Titans are expected to start Josh Dobbs on Thursday night against the Cowboys.

Dobbs has only been with the Titans for a week, but that won't stop head coach Mike Vrabel from handing him the keys in what's setting up to be a farcical Thursday night matchup. Tennessee will rest a handful of starters in tonight's game in preparation for a Week 18 matchup against the Jaguars that will decide both the division and the Titans' playoff fate. This should go without saying, but there's no reason to put Dobbs into your Week 17 lineups tonight. Drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, tonight will mark Dobbs' first career start in the league. He has 45 career passing yards and one interception.

Malik Willis will not start in Week 17 vs. the Cowboys.

This move probably has more to do with ensuring Willis will be active for Week 18 against the Jaguars in a game that will decide the winner of the AFC South. With Ryan Tannehill already ruled out for the regular season, sitting Willis in favor of journeyman Joshua Dobbs gives the Titans their best option at quarterback heading into next week. Willis has thrown for 276 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions for the Titans this season and rushed for another 123 yards and one score.

The Titans are in a total freefall right now and this should be a blowout for Dallas but it seems like the Cowboys have trouble playing a full good game vs. anybody from the AFCS. Kinda weird. An upset from the Titans would be a bad look for Jerry's Boys. They better come out ready to play because Vrable will have the Titans playing hard even if the QB is shitty.

Derrick Henry (hip) is inactive for Week 17 against the Cowboys.

With tonight's short-week contest immaterial to Tennessee's flickering AFC South odds, the Titans are doing the only thing that makes sense and resting Henry as they experiment with Josh Dobbs against the Cowboys' ferocious defense. Hassan Haskins will lead the Titans' backfield in Henry's absence. With Dontrell Hilliard (neck) on injured reserve, undrafted rookie Julius Chestnut appears set to serve as the No. 2 back. With the Titans' offense in grave danger of going off the rails, Haskins can't be trusted as an RB2. Joining Henry on the shelf are CB Kristian Fulton, DB Josh Thompson, S Amani Hooker, LB Dylan Cole, OL Nicholas Petit-Frere, DL Denico Autry and DT Jeffery Simmons. We fully expect Henry back for next week's winner-take-all showdown with the Jaguars.

Tony Pollard (thigh) is inactive for Week 17 against the Titans.

Two-touchdown road favorites, the Cowboys are set to pulverize a team starting Josh Dobbs and Hassan Haskins, and wisely saw no reason to push the envelope with Pollard on a short week. It's devastating for fantasy managers, of course, who don't have a plug-and-play waiver wire fill-in with Ezekiel Elliott still around to start. Elliott should cede a non-trivial amount of work to Malik Davis, however. He is worth a flier for the truly desperate. We fully expect Pollard back for Week 18, at least if it means anything to the Cowboys. Joining him on the Week 17 shelf are LB Leighton Vander Esch, WR James Washington, WR Jalen Tolbert, CB Trayvon Mullen, S Markquese Bell and QB Will Grier.
