I appreciate that info. This trade doesn't look as bad for Detroit now.

Regardless they probably go qb at 7, pick up a lot of picks and have an insurance policy if their qb at 7 doesn't pan.

That is what I would do. No matter how you cut it once your franchise gets good you eventually have to pay the qb

For those that arguing.
Stafford is a way better Qb than Goff.
Also a better leader.
Since the Superbowl, Goff is a shell of a QB.

Now Houston seeing this trade is like
Watson after seeing this trade is like :pout:

He isnt getting traded now.

But that is something that happens.

Most, if not, all veteran QBs are brought in on those decisions. Ben in Pittsburgh. Rodgers in Green Bay. I'm sure Dak was consulted in Dallas before hiring McCarthy. It's a matter of respect especially if you think that your QB is gonna be a concrete part of the franchise for years to come.
dont know much on the steelers so I dont know the last time they even changed a GM. They do pretty well at longevity in their front office.
However Rodgers hated the Lafleur hire, & nobody was consulted before hiring McCarthy. he went to dinner at the Jones house & poof, became the Head Coach. So you really dont know what you are talking about.
Which BTW none of which are a GM.
Having a head coach talk to a QB makes sense. For the Head Coach. he needs to know if he can get a franchise Qb to do whatever his plan is. (not the other way around) A GM however has no need to talk to a QB. You have a GM just do what a QB wants you have a failed Organization. There is zero reason to need to get the nod from a player about hiring a GM.

BTW all this talk of the texans do's & donts on running the team, as the excuse for Watson wanting to leave. or for feeling bad for him. They just fired their GM & got a new one. I seriously doubt the new GM is gonna make the same decisions as buttchin did. So that is an unknown making all those points moot.

They should trade down and add more picks.

They need a lot of help.

As we are seeing a good qb is exceptionally valuable
Yeah, Megs thinks Staff worth a 6th rounder.....fucking idiot.

The Rams just cemented themselves a visit to the NFC title game. Possibly even the SB.

So the Rams spent 4 firsts, 2 seconds and a 3rd round pick to get, and get rid of Goff. They're $30M over the cap, and most of that money is tied to about 5 players.....depth is gonna be next to nill, but at least they have some foundational type players at key positions. Now were gonna see how truly good Stafford is. The best thing I can say about LA in this deal is......well they aren't boring....I'll give them that.

With the way QB's are playing late into their careers......Staff could play another 6-7 years so not having a 1st won't matter.....just draft better in other rounds and make smart FA signings.

If that's all you have, then I've made my point.
The Rams are loaded, just stop it.

The 49ers aren't looking so good right now and they both play in the NFC West so I realize why you might be a tad depressed.

Meh, they still have RW and Carroll.....they could rebound IMO.

Arizona and SF aren't looking so great right now.

The trade only made sense to a team like the Rams IMO, a team that thinks it is in contention right now for a ring.
