Auburn was me. We will see who's laughing at the end of the year. I'm bullish on Stidham and Auburn this year. :suds:

Auburn is somewhat defensible if you take into account they have 14 starters returning, which is not including Stidham, and they've recruited really well the past 3/4 seasons. They get Bama at home and their road cross over game is at Missouri. I don't think they'll beat Clemson, but I think that'll be a competitive game, especially early in the year with what Clemson has to replace. If they beat Clemson on the road, my guess is they'll vault into the top 6.

You're having to do a lot of typing to defend someone being ranked as the overall best team in the country there.

Obviously, I wouldn't put them #1(I had them #11), but if recent history is any suggestion, if a team can come out of nowhere(and this isn't even to the extent that 2010 or 2013 would be) it's Auburn. It's really no different than somebody wanting to have Wisconsin at #1 IMO.

Those are both huge stretches, IMO. I think you're just looking for a reason to be outside the box rather than being honest making those sort of choices. Which is why I laughed.

I don't know it was @Hook'Em0608 's top 25. I don't think it's a huge stretch they can win the SEC, which if they do, they'll find themselves in the CFP. It is out of the box, but the last 2 years there's been multiple teams outside the top 10 make the CFP. It's no different than picking a 3 seed to win the tournament IMO.

JFC... this AP voter on Finebaum has Texas 9th and Clemson 12th. Ok, fuck the Clemson part, but Texas at 9th. What am i missing? That's rhetorical, what I really mean is FUCK THIS Wilner guy! He should have his voting responsibilities revoked, then he should be tarred and feathered, then receive 39 lashes and run out of town.

It's maybe not a huge stretch, but again, it's laughable to say they're the top team in the entire nation bringing in a QB who hasn't taken a meaningful snap in exactly 21 months today. I know they return 14 starters, but they're middle of the pack in regards to returning production and that's from an 8-5 team.

Again, it's just silly to say they're #1, but if you want to be outside of the box, so be it.

Auburn's at 16/1 to win the national championship....behind 5 teams. Don't really think it's a stretch

True. I'd at least wait until after we beat Clemson handily

They're actually currently sitting behind 7 teams, tied at 8th. Given just how far back they are of the top teams, it's laughable to say they're #1.

Vegas Insider has us at 6th. They also have Michigan in 7th at 18/1 which is crazy

Auburn is like quantum physics. If you expect them to be good, they will suck. If you expect them to suck, they will be good.
