Larry Walker is an interesting choice. I doubt he gets in because of Coors and the writers hating him, but he did put up some prolific numbers, regardless of playing in Colorado

You were also on my write-in, in between Schott and Jim Eisenreich. That's right about where I value your contributions to baseball
Eisenreich should be on the Phillies wall of fame.

Walker gets a bit of a boost from Colorado, and it really helps that he's a three-time batting champ who just missed out on two more.

And I voted before you fixed it to have multiple choices, so naturally, I picked Bonds as my only choice :D

Probably, especially in four or five years when they're just electing anyone

He's got to wait for Steve Jeltz and Bruce Ruffin to get their plaques.
Jeltz's plaque would read:

STEVE JELTZ
1983-1989
.210/.308/.268
Fuck you Pittsburgh

Jeltz aka "Jet" is easily the 4th best major leaguer that was born in France.

I actually didn't include 10 names for the first time in a long time. But, to be fair, I didn't put a lot of time into it, and I may tweak my ballot before the announcements are made...

Bonds
Clemens
Raines
Bagwell
Kent
Pudge
Hoffman
Sosa

Manny, Vlad and Schilling were close, but they just don't have that extra "umph" for me.

even with all those home runs, Sosa had only one historically good year per OPS+ (203 in 2001), and he didn't even lead the NL that year. Barry had a 259 OPS+. That's Sosa's only season with an OPS+ north of 160 and he only finished in the top 5 three times.

didn't even notice Posada on there until obx posted him. He's a really tough one and I'd probably put him in the HOF, though I'm not sure he'd crack my ballot. His 123 wRC+ makes him one of the greatest offensive catchers of all-time. I think it's worth noting he was a late bloomer as well, he didn't really take over as the Yanks catcher until he was about 26. Only seven catchers had more WAR from ages 25-50.

he ranks 18th among catchers in WAR per Fangraphs, but some of the guys ahead of him played a bunch of other positions (i.e. Brian Downing). Not to mention catchers are more difficult to quantify in regards to WAR. He was a historically bad baserunner though, even by catcher standards. Just incredibly slow.

He is Hall of Very Good in my mind, but being a Yankees fan the homer in me pushes him in.

If I was voting for real Walker would get my vote over Posada, while Schilling would still be on there.

Walker had comparable numbers to Vlad (even after accounting for Coors, he actually has a slightly higher OPS+) and he was a much better baserunner (much more efficent as a base stealer and he hit into far fewer double plays) and fielder.
