Its come to the point where you have to ask which scenario is more plausible:

1. The Pats are being wrongfully accused of everything that's been thrown at them. They are innocent.

2. The Pats actually have been caught cheating and are guilty. They are guilty.

If it's #1 that means several new organizations, and Roger Goodell have some axe to grind with the Pats and have conspired to bring them down by publishing lies over the course of 14 years.

If it's #2 that means there is no conspiracy and the Pats have simply been caught.

3. The Pats were guilty of minor infractions that led to little to no advantage, and its been a witch hunt ever since. Every time they dont dot an "i" they get accused again. The league, knowing most of its fans are sheep, paint the organization as a whole as "cheaters"even tho its been proven time and time again they are far from alone in bending these same rules.

Logical fallacy of the false choice. How about scenario #3:

3. Success at the game and a false accusation makes the Patriots the easiest target for further false accusations. News organizations love it and will happily put out whatever hit pieces Goodell wants them to, throwing around unsubstantiated accusations, because these articles generate page hits and thus ad money. Profit!

Its horrible when there are articles about a team that cheats when they are cheating.

Or when corrupt college football coaches "vouch for" violent, drug-addicted gang members.

A line from the article actually says it all:

Sports Illustrated said:
At least five teams have swept their hotels, locker rooms or coaches’ booths in New England for listening devices, sometimes hiring outside professionals. None have been found.

"None have been found." That says it all. Baseless and unsubstantiated accusations with no evidence.

The Patriots have done nothing wrong, but so many lies and so much false innuendo has been spread about them that it has led to unfounded paranoia.

And they just randomly picked this particular team to be paranoid about, right?

You didn't get the memo? They want other teams to win SBs, too. I mean, the Pats have been winning all the SBs for the last 15 years......

Completely forgot.

"This whole thing is about parity! The league office is sick of the Pats winning everything."

Cheaters! But nothing will come of this. Except maybe when Brady and Bellicheat are never elected to the HOF. Sure does put a taint on all those championships as it will always be a footnote somewhere. Everything patriot should be accompanied with an asterisk. *

Yep. Giving them the last pick of the draft wasn't good enough... they had to take it away altogether!

For the record... the Falcons and Browns have been convicted of as many things as the Pats have in the last 12 months... but no one gives a shit about them because they're losers.

This conspiracy theory falls apart where most of them do: motive.

You'd have to find a plausible motivation for the NFL to throw one of its flagship franchises, and more importantly themselves under the bus for a conspiracy theory to make sense. No such motivation exists except in the increasingly delusional minds of blindass Patriot homers.

Or it's because the Falcons owned up to it and complied as much as possible while the Patriots did neither.
