the 2171 strikeouts lack context. It might rank "only" 65th all-time, but his strikeout rate is the 7th highest of all-time. He's finished in the top 3 in strikeouts five times and he's finished in the top 10 in K/9 eight times. So it's not like he isn't a strikeout pitcher.

He also has the highest ERA+ of all-time among starting pitchers (the only guy ahead of him is Rivera).

Easy yes. He's one of the best pitchers I'll ever watch even if the rest of his career is in question.

Yeah, he racked up some nice SO numbers mowing down the 7th, 8th and pitcher in every line-up he ever faced in the NL.

It's the fucking Hall of Fame for chrissakes, not the hall of I was really good for 8 or 10 years :L

I get what you're saying. But based on the other pitchers of this era, who has really established themselves over the last decade? After Verlander and Scherzer.

Kluber? Sale? Grienke? Bumgarner? Felix?

145 wins does not equal HOF. Period.

Sadly the roid abuse broke his body down and he didn't get to enjoy a career long enough to get in to Cooperstown. Sadly for you that is.
Wins?

Seriously?

Dude, 1977 called. They want their stats back.

Did I say that those boys belong in the HOF?

After a quick review of Koufax's stats, I'd be plenty comfortable tossing his ass out of the HOF and relegating him to the Hall of damn good for not long enough.

You happy now?

So no pitcher that hit their prime after 2010 should be in?

He's the best one and I'm not a guy who slaps his chest for the short careers either. Terrell Davis and Kenny Easley should have never gotten into the NFL HOF. Nor should Tony Boselli.

Let me ask you this: Everyone has a favorite player or two in their team's history that they think should be in a pro HOF but isn't, mine are Jim Marshall and Tony Oliva.

Would you have a Tony Conigliaro?

Kershaw was really good for short period of time. He benefited from facing some of the weakest line-ups in the history of MLB and he did well. Ultimately, he turned out to be soft as fuck and flamed out.

Tough break, but he can afford to not give a fuck and I can also afford to not give a fuck.

He's no doubt a future Hall of Famer for the accomplishments he has achieved in his ten seasons in the MLB. It's difficult for any pitcher to duplicate his success, maybe Scherzer, but it's remarkable on how much he has accomplished.

Speaking of Kershaw, he's returning to the mound tomorrow against the Mets. The Dodgers could really use him right now.

Listening to Smoltz whine about the Mets for 3 hours has been great.

I have to go off-topic.

I've made a mistake when I said that Kershaw was starting tomorrow. He's starting right tonight. That's my bad.

He’s in the top 5 of pitchers I’ve seen in my life. First two are Randy and Pedro.

If the other two aren’t Roger and Greg, you gotta hand in your fan card right now.

Unless you are dating back to Tom, Juan or Sandy.

Leave it to Rex Racer to think that pitcher wins and losses are a worthwhile stat. Lol.
