Chip Brown's not a member. He doesn't work for ESPN.....
TEXAS is important.
These threads keep popping up. The PTI guys keep discussing it. ESPN leads with it.
Every freaking sports radio guy has his opinion.
It is like TIM TEBOW. You can make fun of the coverage all you want, but these are topics that bring in chatter.
There will be at least 100,000 rumors about Texas each day for the next month.
There is a reason TEXAS is the #1 brand and sells so much merchandise.
It draws interest...good...bad... or indifferent....

Trolling. Name the Longhorn posters on this board who wanted Saban. IIRC only one wanted Saban.
The power that is the Longhorn Nation helped give raises to at least 3 coaches this season.
Congrats on that!! The power that is Trojan Nation got Petersen to finally leave Boise!!
It has nothing to do with a delusional fanbase.
Do you really think all the national guys like Colin Cowherd, PTI, Jim Rome, and countless others simply are catering to a niche fanbase of delusional message board guys?
No, Texas purposely built a broad stretch of love and hate that reaches even casual fans.
It might not be the best program, BUT it certainly creates discussion.
Even abject hatred, derision, and mockery is $till conver$ation and expo$ure.
Heck, Poor Aggie is learning that with Johnny Football.....
That moves the dial. That makes the brand valuable. That puts it front and center.
It is better to be hated and induce criticism than be completely invisible.
It gets repetitive and saturated no doubt, sometimes you want it to go away....
But, this is how TEXAS decided it would generate than mountains of cash. It works for them.
Darth Vader sold a lot more T-shirts than Luke Skywalker ever did.
