You know this Saban v Bear is an interesting debate. Saban has a slightly higher winning percentage. Bear has 6 titles in 25 yrs vs 3 in 7.
-With a different format in place. How many would Bama have won with a similar format back in those days. Hard to say, but Bear is still; number one in the hearts of many long time fans, the newer fans who didnt see the Bear led teams only know Saban for his great teams. Bear is still the bar that all coaches at Alabama shoot for, but Saban went along ways towards changing that. It is a good debate, but in this mans opinion, I still have Bear in my heart as the number one coach and Saban is a very close second.

Alot of coaches in that era had a lot of years of unlimited scholarships. The truth is a lot of coaching legends in CFB would have areal hard time under the current rules.
