So if Saban ditches Bama, what are they going to do with that statue?

Why, he filled the criteria for getting one as a coach at Alabama three times over.

Not like he didnt bestow on Alabama three BCS titles to add to their collection of National titles we have.

He was their greatest coach. Why would they ever tear down those statues?

:nono: Bear has him beat at this point. He will have more work to go if he wants to beat that man.

It will stay. They are put up for any coach that wins a national championship.

at this point, i think bama fans have to revere saban regardless of what he does or where he goes.

if he had left after just winning one, they'd turn on him like lsu fans did though.

You know this Saban v Bear is an interesting debate. Saban has a slightly higher winning percentage. Bear has 6 titles in 25 yrs vs 3 in 7.

Why would they even consider that? Some people just don't get it! Awkward? Why? Every coach that has won a NC for Alabama is on the walk of Champions! Saban leaving affects this how?

With a different format in place. How many would Bama have won with a similar format back in those days. Hard to say, but Bear is still; number one in the hearts of many long time fans, the newer fans who didnt see the Bear led teams only know Saban for his great teams. Bear is still the bar that all coaches at Alabama shoot for, but Saban went along ways towards changing that. It is a good debate, but in this mans opinion, I still have Bear in my heart as the number one coach and Saban is a very close second.

Bear had a lot of years of unlimited scholarships. The truth is a lot of coaching legends in CFB would have areal hard time under the current rules.

I FIFY but I agree, the reality is its a bit harder today, but Bear had a knack for coaching too, he knew how to motivate players and get them conditioned. His teams were usually very tough conditioning wise.
