Mirotec was seriously hurt and even hospitalized. He missed a lot of time due to his injuries from the Portis cheap shot.

It is kind of like saying attempted murder and murder are the same offense.

I am not saying it is right, but in American society, the consequence is always more severe when the victim is seriously injured.

If you want to look at it in the simplest way possible, then yes, there is nothing wrong with the analogy. LOL. However, Portis getting suspended for 8 games to Green getting 0 games is a terrible comparison to how the law punishes murder and attempted murder.

The law is very focused on intent, and this makes sense. You are not a better person because you didn't wind up killing someone who you tried to kill. It's difficult to use as a comparison with the NBA because the NBA is a business, but I'm not the one who introduced legal concepts of murder and attempted murder. There are likely business reasons that go into disciplinary decisions.
