we need the money, sir

unless a crazy year happens or a lot of the teams improve we won't be able to contend for championships, but being in an AQ conference will give us plenty more money to expand our stadium, improve our facilities and that way in a few years the Big 12 will come calling.

AQ is nice but secondary. We need to expand our facilities to attract better teams and interest from other conferences which means money.

The BE, even as diluted as it looks to become is still a significant improvement over the MWC. Especially once that abortion of a merger takes place. BSU was looking at being in a giant east-west conglomerate in either case. This way BSU gets to help select the other members of the BE west division.

It's even more of a no brainer IMO than the move from WAC to MWAC was.

It isn't our final destination but a definite move in the right direction. And away from a sinking ship.

If going to the BE helps you build your facilities and get you to the Big 12 quicker, go for it.

The West appears to be Boise State, Air Force, Houston, SMU, BYU (if they can get them), and one other team that hasn't been identified (probably Cincy or Louisville).

That is a lot of traveling but an upgrade in teams.

What are the BCS deals with the Big East and MWC. I mean, you have the same chance of getting into a BCS game in either, I would think. Is the split even in both conferences??

yes but the Big East gets millions and millions more than the MWC gets.

You're kidding, right?

The BE has an AQ so the champ gets a BCS bowl no matter how many losses

The MWC only gets in unbeaten or MAYBE 1 loss

The money in the BE at this point with no renegotiated tv deal is TRIPLE the MWC.

And it will go up.

IF we left after this year.

We wait one year and it's the yearly conference rev which is less than 3 mill.

We make the move in 2013. The exit fee will be less than 3 mill.

for how much longer? If the teams leaving for the Big East would have stayed in the MWC merger or whatever, i would imagine they had a better chance at becoming an AQ conference.
