Week 5

Starters
N Karns - 34.5
C Kershaw - 24.5
J Hammel - 22.0
B Colon - 43.0

Bench
K Gausman - 16.0
C Hamels - 25.5
C Tillman - 44.0
M Bumgarner - 24.0

Yeah, Hammel let me down this week too.

Some mighty arms right there. I wouldn't get too fancy most weeks. Sure, you can fall into two starts like Colon had now and then, but I'd be careful.

Anyway, the only place I even think about benching Clay is in Colorado.... and probably would still start him.

Understood. I don't share the "you have to start your stud" sentiment that Milk mentioned.

In this case, I thought about benching him but didn't and it cost me almost 20 points.

Thanks. Consider this - a few weeks into the season, I traded away D Price and C Archer to improve my hitting.

Personally, I don't think considering 2-very-very-favorable-Tillman-starts over 1-Kershaw start vs TOR to be getting "too fancy." I'm just trying to maximize points.

And before you ask - it's not a 10-team league. 14 team keeper league. Keep 10 MLB, 5 MiLB.

I tend to pay attention to average FP/GS and then look at the match ups.

To your point though, I benched 1-start Bumgarner for 2-start Hammel and it cost me two points.

I know it's a keeper league but Reed is now on the DL and he isn't helping me currently.. Do you think he will even help me next season? Should I use him as a trade chip, drop him pick someone else up....

I almost dropped him for JBJ (wish I had) but didn't and now JBJ is gone

Again.... he wasn't supposed to help you currently.
If you want to add someone you have drops to make with those streaming arms on your bench.
If you don't want to wait for Reed to be a factor (July at the earliest), then drop him.

I would fill my bench with as many prospects as I can hold.

Yeah good point he wasn't. That is true. However he has been declining as of late so that has me a little worried

He is not declining, he slumped and got hurt. he is still on track to get promoted by the end of June. Personally, I would not even consider dropping him unless he has had 30 days worth of ABs in the bigs and is not getting the job done. A minor injury is not a good reason to let go here.

Not sure what to do with this.

Picking up Jackie Bradley JR. Would have been fine, but you don't need to drop a prospect to do it. You ain't winning this year. Keep your prospects and drop the vets that have no chance to be keepers.

Yeah he would really only help me this year and I aint winning, however he is "proving" himself that he can do it in the majors and Reed hasn't yet (obviously)

Right. But Reed still is not the drop. You have many players in your roster that have no chance at being quality keepers for you next season. You should be picking up young players like JBJ and dropping the low upside vets.

I'd imagine Ozuna is long gone, correct? Buxton?

I'll say it again...Trea Turner? What is it, 15 SBs in AAA already?

An interesting aside:

One league I'm in has 11 teams. Instead of a bye week, we opted that one team a week would face the league average score, so total points scored divided by 11.

As of this morning, the league average team is 4-0 and in sole position of first place. . .

Update on this fuckin anomaly:

The league average team is now 5-0, still in 1st. . . I thought for sure this would be the week it would lose because it faced the #2 overall scoring team, but no, it beat them too.

The teams it's beaten have the following records:

1-4
2-3
4-1
1-4
3-2
Total - 11-14

It's beaten two out of the top four scoring teams in our league. Fuckin nuts.

Further update on the insanity, and further proof that there's so much luck to fantasy baseball, it's fucking ridiculous...

The average team won last week, is 6-0 and has a 2-game lead on the 2nd place team. It's now beaten six out of eleven teams.

go get him:suds:

The Nationals can keep SS prospect Trea Turner under team control for another season if they wait until May 30 to promote him to the major leagues.

Players are eligible for free agency after accruing six years of service time. Turner is at 45 right now and the cutoff for a year is 172 days. If the Nats wait until May 30 to call up Turner, he'll be at 171 days at the end of the year, giving the team a seventh year of contractual control that would lock him up through 2022. It's going to be hard for the Nationals to wait another two weeks with Turner continuing to shred Triple-A pitching. When he does get the call, Danny Espinosa's job could be in jeopardy.

Currently I am sitting at 4-2 and in 3rd place... Though I don't see it continuing
