Considered as a power 5 opponent? Shame on the Power 5 conferences for thinking BYU is not worthy
The only year they have finished undefeated was the sham 1984 year when they beat exactly 0 EOY ranked teams...
I remember that Holiday Bowl. Robbie Bosco played on a broken leg and beat a Michigan team that ended the season 6-6. I don't remember any movement to replace Michigan as the opponent slated to play against BYU though.Yeah the year UW backed out of playing them in a bowl for a bigger paycheck. Would have killed BYU.

Wow - academics playing a role in athletics decisions. Oh how I long for those halcyon days.Several schools passed on the bowl because of its early time period, citing interference with final exams. Eventually, the Holiday Bowl picked the 6-5 Michigan Wolverines
We were one of them that passed on it. We went on to thump #2 Oklahoma.
On that note, you will be glad to know that my computer chose Washington over Miami(Fl) in 1991.

You should be happy to know that even Barry Switzer thought giving the NC to BYU was a gift for their coach and undeserving.
Shame on BYU for not joining a conference.[/QUOTE
That isn't their fault. They have tried to get into the PAC and Big 12.
