They have a high first round pick. Not automatic that Flacco comes back from the injury the same. Last place is a possibility again. Do they need a backup plan or just wait for Denver to cut Sanchez?

No, he should be fine. Carson Palmer injured his knee about the same time in the season as Flacco & cam back 100% ready. Flacco has many years left to play, why waist a 1st round pick on a QB who might never see the field for 7 or 8 years? They have Ryan Mallet to backup Flacco.

There's no guarantee Denver releases Sanchez.....it's possible he could be their opening day starter.

I think they just use it as a measuring stick, certainly people react differently to injury and the body has a mind of it's own....But percentage wise, his age and the advancement of docs with this surgery points to an assumed timetable...
But I think Southie is getting worried about grandpa Brady up there in the land of cheaters with his rascal already on order and no prospect of a qb to step in when he heads to the assisted living home...:heh::heh::heh:

No... If he comes back and the injury is a bad one and he isn't the same then use a pick next year since you will have a high draft pick most likely again. If he was a guy who uses his athleticism I'd possibly think about it, but he's more of a pocket guy. That team has a LOT of holes on it right now, I'd use everything they have to solidify the rest of the team.

Didn't they just give him another 40+ million in guarantees?

Baltimore isn't drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds for at least 2 years, probably 3 or 4. Their wagon is hitched to Fluke-o.

I have never seen a player make more money off of one 4 game hot streak.

First, the Ravens will want to see what Flacco can do in real game situations. The last thing they'd want to do is make a big splash and take a QB and have Flacco think he's on his way out. Then find out that the QB they drafted isn't as good as they were hoping and then they have a a pissed off vet and a nonusable rookie.

This draft appears so rich in defensive players and the Ravens are excellent at picking unknowns who become stars in their system that they might deal the pick for a second rounder this year and a first rounder next year.
Sound like Cleveland on the phone? Get the #32 this year and their first round pick next year. The browns appear to be trying to go 'all in'.

Ravens will do what they think is best for them and trying to guess what they'll do is like trying to guess what Belichick will do.

"The 31-year-old quarterback hasn’t been able to maintain the level of play that led to a Super Bowl XLVII victory, but the Ravens needed to adjust his contract to lower his cap hit. His new three-year, $66.4 million deal sucks"

Why would that headline even remotely bother me, being that is'a lie by omission? The NFL told Brady they wouldn't be needing the phone, and confirmed so in court.

It's a flashing headline, but that's about it.

And I don't like jelly beans.

They already have a good one in Tyrod Taylor. Oh wait...

I'd keep Flacco. He can still throw the chuck and duck as good as anyone. Good thing God blessed him with a big arm. Otherwise he may be flipping burgers with Hammer and Dirt.
