From Jamey Newberg:

There are various scenarios here — including the timing to expect on the completion of the deal — but one certainty (unless this was changed in the new CBA, though I’ve heard nothing suggesting that) is that the unidentified player cannot be in the big leagues right now, or at any time before the player is announced to finalize the trade.

Hate to say it, but the Astros may be the key. JD should be angling them in some how. Wouldn't mind having some of their top prospects.

I wouldn't mind looting their system and then Yu snubbing them in FA and re-signing with the Rangers

Not worth the risk of facing Darvish 7 or 8 times a year for the next 10 years.

Ken Rosenthal of MLB Networkhas the latest on Darvish. It’s said to be unclear whether the veteran would waive his no-trade protection, though of the teams with known interest only the Indians would need authorization to acquire him. There remains a mystery team in on Darvish, and the Rangers still think they’ll make a deal despite the lack of evident progress thus far.

Darvish will be a Dodger by 4pm ET. He will be a dominant SP for them and will help lead them to the WS. Then he will re-sign with them for 30 mil a year.

And we'll get back a couple of players that won't amount to anything in Arlington. We have no leverage. And JD is going to get owned by the Dodger front office.

We have all the leverage. We don't "have to" trade Darvish, and they want/need to win a WS.

But way to keep the faith.

How do we have any leverage? We do have to trade Darvish. If he was planning on resigning with the Rangers that would have happened already. We are either trading him or getting a 3rd round compensatory pick.

And JD has shown me nothing over the past few seasons to engender any faith in him. The Dodger front office is the best in baseball and if they want Darvish they'll get him for peanuts.

I pretty sure we all realize the state of the Rangers as we stand today.

But I was SHOCKED to open up ESPN today and see a picture of an Astro's player, and the HL of "Astros need a starter" and to the right are their top stories, and of the 8, Beltre's 3,000th didn't make the list.

Where are we discussing the Lucroy trade? Because I'm ticked about it. We got him and Jefress (spare) for Brinson, and now we get back a PTBNL?

:L

JD needs to smash a homerun today or the patience with him is going to be very thin. Can't live on the Tex deal forever.

Oh Sheesh here we go.

I'm just pointing out the obvious Romeo. And yes I'm pretty upset that the Rangers have to trade one of the best pitchers we've ever had.

But we've given him no reason to even want to stick around. AND that is the fault of our front office.

PTBNL for Lucroy? We gave up Brinson for Lucroy. Wow Daniels. That Texeira trade feels like a 100 years ago.

Waahh... everyone else is better... waahh I dont trust JD... waaahhh we're gonna get fleeced by the dodgers... waaahhh I'm a little bitch who constantly cries about everything and only shows up to a fan board to bitch and moan.... waahhh.

I've never seen anyone constantly show up somewhere where literally nobody wants him. I mean, seriously, everyone cringes when you show up. You add nothing to the board and NOBODY FUCKING LIKES YOU. You are the shit stain I was pissed that made your way over from ESPN. I invited those posters here, and you weren't wanted. Apparently when you signed up you missed the welcome mat at the entrance that said, "Go fuck yourself and eat a bag of dicks." So just fuck off already to lone star baseball or something.

I'm a little hacked off about myself, really. I hate it that this was all that was reported and then just dropped.

Hindsight makes everyone an expert. It looked like a great trade at the time. Nobody knew both would shit the bed this year. Nobody expected it.

Anyone remind me what PTBNL is all about? That's someone who isn't in the majors and now won't be until he is sent to us, right? So why can't they name him now? Is it rules against trading a minor leaguer?

Of course no one knew they would both be so bad. still pisses me off though. This ranks right up there with the Dempster trade now.
