Saturday weddings in the Fall....

My younger cousin is getting married this Saturday, 3 and 1/2 hours from Portland, in beautiful Bend, OR.

Nope, Applebee’s gift card in the mail. I would’ve sent them at least an Outback gift card if it was on an NFL Sunday..... but.

I love that story!! Lol. We don’t have any pheasant left out here. Sucks. Band tailed pigeon season for a whole week right now though.

That's a major Faux Pas in Nebraska.

Simply don't expect many to attend. Even if there is a tv in the back room (I've heard this excuse). I'm not going to be 'guilted' because "I spent the entire reception in the back room watching football".

Some areas have not a lot of options. In Michigan a winter wedding is just stupid with the chances of getting severe snowfall the day before/day of. Summer is just a crap shoot and I have desire to be stuck in a tux in 95° weather.

My wife first offered up Valentine’s Day as a wedding but I said no to that instantly (the day I buried my dad). She then suggested a day in October and I checked the Michigan and Michigan State football games and said ok.

Yeah. It's not my rule. It's a general Nebraska rule. Nobody should be surprised to hear "Piss off, I'm going to the game, watching the game at the bar, at home, wherever."

It only took me ONCE to have the bride come into the backroom during the reception and try to guilt everybody for not being out with the rest of the wedding party. "It's my day".

This basically leaves Spring (when everyone else is getting married, so good luck finding a venue) and Fall (when football's on).

I got married on Jan 31st, in NY, which is usually not that bad...but that year there was a massive snow storm two days before. Everything turned out fine but didn't need that extry stress.

The superbowl was the next day, and we were on a plane to Hawaii for the duration. Never thought my team would be in it when we set the date six months earlier.

I had to go to a wedding on New Year's Eve one year, and if that isn't bad enough, when I got there, I learned it was a DRY FUCKING WEDDING. ON NEW YEAR'S EVE, FOR THE SAKE OF ALL FUCKS!!!
