His diabetes finally got the best of him. I remember reading when he passed that he had always struggled to maintain his insulin levels because what form of diabetes he had, it was the worst kind with wild swings and such.

Were you upset that she didn't say Chappelle Show? His sketches were golden but his stand up is GOAT type of good.

Um cal, you do remember that Dave was in "The Nutty Professor" and the role was a comedian, right? It doesn't seem to me at first glance like this was definitely a case of mistaken identity.

Well, I watched the monologue, which was okay, and that first sketch with Chris Rock, which had a few laughs but could have been better.

As stated, the "comedy" they show on a network is way different from on a cable channel.

When someone mentions John Ratzenburger, I don't expect them to say "Is that the guy from Empire Strikes Back?"

My understanding was that Phife simply had ordinary old Type 1 diabetes but did a relatively dreadful job trying to control it, and by the time he realized how much he'd fucked things up it was basically too late. But I didn't read much on the (specific) subject so I certainly may be wrong about that.

Right, I got that aspect of the criticism. I'm just saying that I wouldn't assume that she was mistaking him for Eddie Murphy.

Hell, I'd even say that "isn't that the comedian from 'The Nutty Professor'?" is actually a somewhat astute observation if it's not a case of mistaken identity. I mean it's not an uncredited role in a nothing movie or anything like that but Reggie was not a memorable role, even though I have heard "women be shoppin'!!!!" used jokingly within the last month or so.
