I think him being Tebow's QB coach when Tim led Denver to the playoffs also artificially boosted his reputation.

I doubt he had much input on Tebow considering he was the WR coach. Gase has never been a QB coach outside for 1 year in Detroit back in 07.

Obviously you misremember. Gase was promoted from WR coach to QB coach in 2011. He took over for the spot vacated by Ben McDaniels. Tyke Tolbert was the Broncos WR coach in 2011.

Gase remained QB coach through 2012 with Manning and took over at OC after Mike McCoy was hired by the Chargers in 2013.
