Are you being serious with this post? You and a couple of other Bama fans have been calling people haters and jealous, etc. for pointing out the hypocrisy and dumb statements made by your coach. You have attacked a style of football that some may prefer and/or their team plays as not being "real football" or "good football" simply because it's a style that you and your coach don't like. Sorry, but you are no less guilty of what you accuse other posters of than they are.

Like it or not, Saban never should have opened his mouth on this subject. There is simply no way for him to come off looking like anything other than self-serving.

As for his contention about the NFL's pace of play. Even when the college football playoff starts, the highest number of games a college team will play is 15 (assuming a Hawaii game and making it to the NC). An NFL regular season is 16 games. When you add in exhibition games (which college does not have) and playoffs, teams that make the Super Bowl can play as many as 23-24 games. How many more snaps is that than college even if everyone ran hunh? Neither Saban, nor the good doctor address this?

The rule being discussed was proposed last year before Saban said anything about it, and the article linked in the OP directly says that Saban had nothing to do with it, and that the rules nearly passed last year but the vote was a tie. But yet, somehow even though the rule was proposed before Saban said anything, before Saban even spoke to the committee, it's all about Saban. Bullshit.

You say Saban is self serving here, but all the football coaches who run the HUNH crying about Saban aren't? You call Saban a hypocrite, but I'm wondering if you even know what the word means. Maybe you can say Saban has an agenda, but being a hypocrite would be like - saying other coaches have an agenda while you yourself are worried about protecting your own form of offense. Which for some reason is celebrated among you.

... but BamaTee does an excellent job at getting a thread off-topic, as noted by Mamba before I could get my post off.

If Saban really cared about player safety, he would ask for a ban on CCGs, Bowl games and playoffs.
If Saban really cared about player safety, he would be establishing a foundation to assist players who he used to coach and are dealing with injury.

Prime example of why this forum is shit now. Did you even read the article before you decided to blast Saban and Alabama? He hasn't embarrassed me at all, and all I have ever heard about this topic from the "other side" is a bunch of logical fallacies that promote ignorance.

Pretty sad that the Politics forum is more bearable and has less hypocrisy than the college football forums now. Everyone here keeps trying to shift the focus to Saban, but the real truth of the matter is you are all just trying to protect the style of football your team has shifted to in recent history.

Maybe if you guys get your shit together and start measuring the quality of this forum based on the intelligence level of the discussions rather than "Oh this thread is going to be good, Jimmies are rustled", it won't be a bunch of shit.

Quite amazing how quickly my opinion of this section and the people moderating it has dropped. I once looked forward to opening this section, now I mostly avoid even reading it.

Highlights from the article:

Yeah, he's just a doctor who has been around the game for 30 years. He wouldn't know shit about the topic would he? Oh because it's not about the facts or logical conclusions, it's all about "my team does this, so I support this" while at the same time being a hypocrite and claiming that it's just Saban doing this and that he can't adapt(despite being the most successful coach/team since 2008 when the spotting rules changed all this to begin with).

And oh yeah, let's not forget this little tidbit. But again, lets ignore it and blame Saban/Alabama.

It's fucking pathetic. Get your shit together hoop.

The door is thatta way. Bye!

Where will I ever find a bunch of people who hate teams that are so successful and play a minority role as if because a team is successful it's ok to shit on it and their fans.

:laugh3:

Like it or not, there are many forums on the internet. I joined SportsHoopla because it seemed different. Only it's not different anymore, it's got the same intellectual consistency of yahoo comments. And that's why I've already shown myself the door for the most part and have no problem doing it again.

Do I really need to quote all of your posts containing personal attacks and insults?

Maybe you should switch allegiance to a team with less current success so you can deal. The canes might be a great choice for you. Nobody gives a shit about them, and they have a terrible coaching problem. :noidea:

So, because a team is successful it's ok to shit on them and be a dickhead to their fans.

I think there is a word for people like that: Hater.

The article also mentions saban being a lighting rod for the issue. Also, saban was bitching about the hunh at least 2 years ago. I posted a 2012 quote by him somewhere, whining about it.

If a HUNH team is hot, then their offense and the other team's defense will actually be playing FEWER downs because they will both likely be sitting on the bench a lot. That would mean FEWER injuries for half of each team's players if you buy the "fewer plays means fewer injuries" argument. The HUNH and "more injuries" only applies when EACH team is playing HUNH football.

Saban is sounding like a socialist; what he thinks is better for himself is what he wants to force on everyone else too. There's nothing stopping him from slowing things down all he wants "to avoid injuries" when he has the ball. Saban's REAL concern is his defense sitting on the bench a lot after a team running the HUNH puts them there (where they are "avoiding injuries" watching their slo-mo offense slug it out). Of course all those points on the board after a HUNH keeps making his defense sit safely on the bench might have a little to do with it too.

I sent Jon Stewart of The Daily Show an email about the subject and would enjoy his take on the subject.
The comparison of Putin's Man Boobs and Terrence Cody's pair would be obligatory. The reaction when he saw them would be hilarious.

Fear is what all the HUNH teams are experiencing right now with the thought of losing their crutch. Which is why they are on the attack like a cornered rat. Saban is just a way of attacking things and avoiding the discussion, traditional logical fallacy type stuff. Easy for people to hate on Saban, so that is what they go with.

But it won't matter, the shit will be dealt with no matter what. Rules committees have never given a shit about popular opinion. Saban is more worried about spread option offenses anyway and has started recruiting to counter that.

First time on a sports message board? Only difference here is there are a few posters who cry like little girls in every thread that doesnt praise their beloved.

New SportsHoopla "saban rule": only love, adoration and nutswinging of others favorite teams will be tolerated. Any disagreement what-so-ever will not be tolerated. No discussion of the very few cfb topics in the media during the offseason will be allowed. All posters MUST click on every thread as well.

Ah yes, because you have no real argument and can't address what is said, let's build a strawman in the opposite extreme and tear that down instead.

If a little honesty is a bridge too far, then so be it.

Nick Saban compares HUNH to cancer from smoking heaters.

His partner in crime Brett Bielema compares the HUNH goes death route to argue for a slower paced game.

This will only end when the HUNH is compared to Hitler.

So you think smoking 20 cigarettes a day is the same risk as smoking only 1 cigarette a day?

I guess we need to get that Surgeon General's warning removed, because obviously if you've ever smoked once, quitting smoking will not greatly increase your health.

PS: lol @ wannabe hipster.

Yes! But make sure you write the post I was commenting to! I stay away from that shit unless isomeone keeps going. It's easy to say anything in here. Just look around!

Mamba attacked me to get attention to the article he posted that backed Saban. And since his post all his little minions joined in.

Pretty good analogy unless you have redass from posting it in the first place. :noidea:
