I love seeing him go to the NL Central. Opening Day at the new Friendly Confines is going to be exciting. I'm going back this year.
yup, they did. Just stupid. But $150M+ for Lester? yikes
Yeah they is a little steep in my opinion. However it doesn't change the fact the Sox screwed themselves.
And now it's being reported that Jason Hammel signed a 2 year deal with the Cubs. Does this take Lester off the table?
Which is another interesting question.... Lester indicated he would take a home-town discount last winter... The Sox insulted him with a 4 year $70m offer (approx)....
What would he have accepted if they hadn't pissed him off right out of the gate?
I'm thinking they could have gotten a five year deal done... probably around $105-$110m...
Now if they 'really' want him, it'll take a sixth year and a bit more cash....
Reports are he signed a 2 year deal for 18 million with a third year option. This is a career 59-70 4.60 era pitcher. First half of last year was his contract push. Got dealt to the A's and folded under playoff pressure.
I highly doubt this is a drop in the bucket signing.
Reports are LA Dodgers are up to 5/170 for Lester, Cubs should be out of it just for that reason. Nobody should be in at Lester for that money and the Dodgers will be giving it to a 3/4 in the rotation.
