3 guys coming up that are all below the mendoza line. What could go wrong?

Doesn't anyone manage games anymore? Why not sac over the runner to 3rd to leadoff?

As I type this a wild pitch was thrown that would have won it. SMH.

The problem with only having at best 6 hitters in your lineup. Game should be over.

The Mendoza line ain't what it used to be.

They need lower the mound. It has been obviously necessary for a few years now.
Or teach better hitting fundamentals. Uppercut approach swinging for the fences is the answer.

Horrible fundamentals by Toro on that tag at 3B.

Maybe........but it seems that pitching has just moved ahead of the batting.

We are pretty much in the midst of the 3rd deadball era in MLB history. They have adjusted and lowered the mound before. I'd prefer that solution to the other proposal of moving the mound back a couple of feet.

Agreed, but hitters copped out and decided collectively just to change their approach by going big swing. I guess they decided if you are going to go 1 for 4 or 1 for 5 you might as well get the most of that one hit.

In all fairness, Toro has been .242 in his time with the M's. Not great, but servicable.

The bigger questions are regarding Kelenic and JRod. Did they bring them up too fast? Would they benefit from more time in 3A? Or will this experience be a valuable asset in a few years?
JRod just looks smooth out there. He is a serious athlete. Barring injury, the bottom of his potential is pretty damn high.
But Kelenic is more concerning. I'm beginning to wonder of he can get to .240 at this point. I hope they haven't ruined him and wonder how he would react to another stint in 3A.

Next year when the shift goes away the league average will jump up at least 10 points.
That would help.

Another suggestion was to move the mound back a couple of feet towards 2nd base. I think I'd prefer a lower mound over that option, but I really don't know which is truly better.

Take away his first 11 games with Seattle and he is only batting .209. That is not serviceable. That is young Mariner esque.

Angel Hernandez IS terrible, but to his credit he called that pitch a strike all day to both teams. He did call a strike earlier that was about 3 inches high, and that was probably his most egregious call.
