If he starts winning at Texas with his approach.
Many uppity alumnists and donors will demand to follow coach Strong's lead.

I don't disagree, but is it a for sure win? Suppose you are a parent of a 5* and Texas comes calling. Doesn't it make sense for every other coach to point to stuff like a kid being kicked off the team, virtually ending his football career, for one mistake? YES, I know most of these aren't "one mistake" situations. But perception can be a bitch.
Depends. If the NFL institutes strongs core values you could argue that going to Texas better prepares your for the NFL.
Not saying that will happen.

They can try to use that angle, but that is a hard thing to use negative recruiting against to parents. 4 kids were thrown out of the program and 3 of them were sent to rehab. It may have more sway with kids, but it is a very dangerous tactic to use with Momma

Again I agree, but not all momma's are looking for their kids to get a degree or life lesson. They are looking for their little lotto ticket to get to the NFL as fast as they can and get as much money as they can.
Seems that this cycle of "cleaning up systems" happens at all levels every once in a while. Personally, saw it with the Dallas Cowboys. After the Erik Williams/Irvin years, only high character guys in Dallas. And we sucked balls. Then we swung back to letting the Tank/Pacman/TO guys in. Of course we still sucked, but weren't 6-10. Let's see if this one sticks, or this is just more attempts to placate the sponsors and then back to business as usual. If you can throw/run/hit better than others, the NCAA and NFL will have a job for you
That is true, but you can not be all things to all people. I think it can be a powerful tool though, "I will looking after your kids and make them into respectful young men. The NFL just asked me for help in this area. I also put in 3 first round picks to the NFL last year. Only one other coach equaled that feat, but I was in the Big East (forgot what it is called now). Think about that"

If the 5* recruit is scared UT actually enforces drug tests and doesn't want to go to UT, isn't that a win for UT anyway? Avoided a bad seed.

The NFL knows that many support Coach Strong's core values and no bullshit approach.
The NFL has an image problem.
What better way than for one of Goodell's cronies to set up a public relations stunt with Strong and the $44 million dollar a year man Goodell. This is a publicity stunt. Shake hands with a strong valued African American man, take some pics. Meeting over.
Still laughing at this old bat thinking she can muscle Goodell out.
if those jowls keep flapping she'll need clearance for take off from a control tower.
