I know that everybody knows it but there needs to be a thread dedicated to how awful he is. He's a fucking lucky ass and eventually this is going to bite us in the ass more than it already has.
I get the frustration. He's obnoxious and clearly has some luck on his side. But he has 62 saves out of 67 opportunities as a Mariner. Better to be lucky than good I suppose...
Yeah, I get it. He's got the job done though, and because of that, as frustrating as it's been at times and as concerning as the potential disaster is, we shouldn't expect that he loses the job any time soon.I won't argue with the luck vs. good but the luck is going to run out. At some point in a big game we're going to need someone to hand the ball to that can handle a one run game and he's obviously not it. He doesn't have it anymore. Closer by committee is better than going with him.

I agree.I used a similar argument to defend Rodney. Last year, sure he pitched well. He had a 2.85 ERA last year, so his save rate was justified, but with an ERA of 7, that's going to catch up to him.
I don't want to come off like a big Rodney supporter though, so in the mean time he can shove his imaginary arrows up his ass...
Not really. It's reasonable to be concerned because of his high ERA, but at the end of the day his saves and blown saves are the only stats that matter.Great example of why the saves stat is overrated...
