Day to Day
Haven't seen this mentioned and I keep forgetting to say something.
My apologies Gino.
An absolute legend of the New England Patriots passed away this past Thursday night.
Gino Cappelletti has departed this earth for the Great Stadium in the sky. He was 89 years young.
Gino was an original Patriot, starting with the birth of the team in 1960 and played wide receiver and moire importantly was also the place kicker.
After Gino retired, Billy Sullivan needed an announcer for local radio and because Gino had such a unique voice and great personality and presence, he was offered the job and accepted it. Gino was the lead radio voice of the New England Patriots for 35 years.
His final call was the Super Bowl Victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. "The New England Patriots are the repeat NFL Super Bowl Champions."
I still miss his voice calling the game while I watched a silent TV.
