Redskins DB DeAngelo Hall has agreed to a pay cut.
Hall had been scheduled to count an exorbitant $5.1 million against the cap in the final year of his deal. He was never going to get that at 33 years old and coming off yet another serious injury as he recovers from a torn ACL. Jun 14 - 1:24 PM

How nice of him. I'll agree not to be the next President of the US.

Except it doesn't really help the team. We could have simply cut him and not misses him.

Had we cut him, we still would have taken up some cap space for him. So its really a matter of how the pay cut was structured. With the new roster rule for Preseason, unless we really needed the roster spot, I dont expect any one to get cut at this point and LAvauo might be the next pay cut we hear about.

Yes but we would still be on the hook for whatever prorated bonus he received.

Again it was a matter of what kind of pay cut he took and how its structured.

If we cut him outright, we were still on the books for $852k So lets say they dropped his base to $1m, so instead of costing $5.2, he is now down to under $2m with a chance to earn it back in playing time and incentives. Unless we really needed the roster spot, or that extra $1.2m was going to make or break us, Im not seeing a huge problem here.

Hall is one of the old guys...a leader and has always played with some fire and attitude.. I think the D and locker room needs a couple those guys. Love that they are keeping the old Hokie around.

For the love of God get out of the D'Angelo Hall business already. Guy is never healthy, he had to switch positions and then was not very good, and he's a year older. When was the last time we got consistent production out of him anyway? Anyone? You don't take up a roster space for a locker room guy.

But we've needed his leadership the last 2 years to become a historically bad defense.

look he has to earn a spot . if it were me i would cut him and put him on the staff somewhere and a younger guy get the work . however , as is the case with loavou they dont trust the younger guys yet and hence another draft might be the answer.

Always funny to me. They don't trust the young guys so they keep the sure fire suck ass guys...logical.

i disagree ...

there is something to be said about veteran leadership & counsel he can provide

especially in the secondary with breeland & norman at each others throats on missed assignments

breeland had a great rookie year

was ruff last season ...

not sure what specifically you are referring to ... but ...

but between breeland, Fuller, Cravens & Norman ... their median age is like 12

I am saying Hall has done nothing to help our porous defense the last two seasons.

The Best friend of a Secondary is a passrush which we should have a pretty damn good one this year

and nobody can make shit smell like flowers ...

folks blowing assignments is not acceptable ...

folks unable to perform at their position ... also unacceptable

but ... there is a possibility ... with the addition swearinger ...

that CB wont be left on an island like breeland was in week one vs antonio brown

& IF ... thats a big IF ... they can fill the roster with a secondary that can perform mentally & physically on the field

THEN having a on the field coach ... while i hear you when you say its a luxury we can not afford ... is still a valuable asset for alot of development off the field we do not witness.
